ye for example take hermes franca who dyed his hair green for ufc 62, and before that at ufc 61 he had blonde highlights. i am sure he is not doing these things to improve his skill but rather his looks. Before he had his natural black hair and he looked like your average brazilian fighter. but his new hair color makes him stand out a bit. for those of you that dont know, hermes franca is the guy in my avatar, i had a huge pic of him in my signature but that is now all gone because we have to upgrade our memberships and pay money lol which i havn't done yet.

That's why the UFC props up guys like Rich Franklin and Matt Hughes by matching them up with opponents who are green or way past their prime or simply not all that good. And it's why a guy like Silva can walk in and take apart someone whose gone undefeated in 3 years and why Matt Hughes gets his cocky little face kicked in when he's fighting someone with talent and experience.

The UFC title holders for the most part have been a joke and could never compete on a world stage.
Well, except Chuck Liddell. And now that Franklin and Hughes have been dethrowned.

So it was just a fluke when Matt pwned GSP in their first match? You are a moron.

I think that it does matter. If you go back to the 1960's and see how many times that Muhammad Ali is mentioned as being "handsome" you see how important it is to be a marketable champion. How many millions in endorsements did Hakeem Olajuwon make as opposed to Michael Jordan?

I have always enjoyed Butterbean KTFO of huge muscle-bound dudes. I also believe that a lot of the hatred toward Tim Sylvia is due to his looks. I on the other hand like the fact that he is not apparently Athlete of the Year yet he keeps beating the snot out of people. I am also a HW boxer so I have a deep respect for his jab. Until you have been hit by a 260 lb man's jab you won't know what I mean.

On a side note, does anybody else think it is funny that Travis Lutter gets a XYIENCE contract? He will no doubt be looking more buff in the future I think.

I absolutely think it would make a difference. You see that sort of thing in all aspects of life, so I don't know why it would be any different in MMA.

There is a reason why the height of our presidents is much taller than average.

I like to think I'm not swayed by such unimportant things, but it happens all the time.
