What Strategy Should Ortiz Use Against Liddell?

IN my opinion Tito needs to take the fight to the ground and quickly. Once he has him on the ground he can use his ground and pound specialty.

Chuck isn't fabulous on the ground, and his skills there are lesser than his stand-up by far. I want to see repeated elbows by Tito on Lidell

chuck prefers to strike. that doesnt mean he has no ground game. titos best bet is to keep the fighting going into the later rounds to test chucks cardio. we dont know how chuck fights in the later rounds because he hasnt had to for a long time. the only problem with that is maybe he is just as strong in rd 5 as he is in rd 1. then tito is really in trouble. the problem with tito taking him down is tito likes to pin guys to the cage. and thats where chuck likes to get taken down so he can use the cage to get up. if randy couldnt hold chuck down i doubt tito can. tito should look for his take downs in the center of the octagon, so chuck has to work harder to get up.

He came to Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo where he was a 4-year starter at the Division 1 Wrestling program. Chuck was also a State Champion in Freestyle Wrestling for California. After his wrestling career, he missed the competition. As fate would have it, he heard of a former professional kickboxer by the name of John "The Train" Hackleman, world-class kickboxer ranked #5 in the world. Chuck went to John's dojo called the "The Pit" in the hills of Arroyo Grande, CA and learned the art of kickboxing and also earned a black belt in Kajukembo. Chuck went on to become a North American Champion for the IKF, WKA, WKC and the USMTA.

he has wrestling skills

schizovboi has a little shameless behaviour in the past
tito should wear a helmet in the cage lol striker vs a wrestler it should be the same way as GSP VS HUGHES with chuck sprawling i dont see tito take chuck to the ground, the ground and pound is tito's best chance of winning the fight if the fight happens to be a stand up tito pick the wrong fighter to stand up against chuck can rapid punch and kick and for tito to be at chuck's paste i just dont see it tito has to be close enough to take chuck down tito can get near chuck. im looking forward to see tito cry like a baby again lol

I haven't seen either one of em on their backs enough to tell who's better, Tito has that agressive wrestler mindset where he wants to just charge forward and slam u on the mat and hit up some GnP. If he can somehow get chuck caught between the fence and then rain down some elbows he might have a chance (he's gotta know this isn't gonna happen right away with Chuck's take down defense)even after Liddell has used the fence to slide back up multiple times, if Tito's persistent as hell and some how doesn't get knocked out on the way in all these shoots, just maybe he can pull it off if Chuck gets exhausted. The thing I love about Liddell is his ability to knock someone out without being able to set up or put his body in it, anyways, GO CHUCK!

what should tito do?

be patient for an opening then clinch, drive chuck to the fench, take him down and work those elbows.

I think Tito should be working on the "Not Get KOed" strategy or something along those lines.

If he doesnt go for the ground, i dont see what chances he has... stand up is not an option, unless tito finds a crazy trainer in the next few weeks..

Hit Chuck with lots of leg kicks to take away the sprawl and some of his power & movement, then work the takedown and ground & pound after he's suitable softened up. I can't say I remember Tito throwing leg kicks though...
