If YOU Were Tim Sylvia...

This isn't a thread bashing Tim Sylvia! I just want to get your opinion on this manner!

I just saw an interview of Tim and he was asked if it was more important to keep the title then making the fight exciting! His reply was "In this juncture in my career, Yes it is more important!"

If you were in Tim Sylvia's shoes, wouldn't you want to make a fight more exciting at the risk of losing your title? I mean, the UFC heavyweight division is sort of getting a bad rep! I think an exciting fight from thier champion would help improve its image! Then again, Sylvia could lose the title! Not only would this mean he is no longer number 1 in the UFC but is at risk of taking a huge paycut as well! Also, having that championship would gaureentee a long successful career in the UFC!

So the question is, what would you do if you were Tim Sylvia?

Well of course he wants to keep the title there is better fighters in the heavyweight division in other companys (Pride) not only that but he knows like we all know that the heavyweight division in the UFC is not on par with prides so he is pretty much taking advatage of what he's go to work with but hey Brandon Vera! you never know what can happen

if it pleases the fans then ya. You get more well like deven if you loose the title and look at what happened with GSP. The fans kind of helped him get that title shot by following him

He could have fought less conservatively in that fight, seeing as how he had a foot reach on Monson. I can understand wanting to hold onto the belt. But, a fighter should fight. Him willingly not fighting makes me respect him less as a fighter.

I don't care though, I turn the channel during his fights.

If the method works then he should stick with it. At some point your going to get someone to expose it. I thought that would happen vs. Arlovski but its turned out Arlovski was too afraid to fight like he had nothing to lose. So onward we go, awaiting the next fighter who might actually put heart into the match and rid of Sylvia's "safe" style that I have been seeing as of late =/

Sylvia reminds me of the New Jersey Devils. A winning method that not many appreciate nor care about. I can respect it, but am severely dissinterested at the same time.

Well he'd make less money if he lost the belt but he'd also make more money if he had more fans, exciting fights, and was able to headline a ppv on his own. If I were him I would have thrown more flying knees on Monson. The only time he tryed it it worked at the end of that round then he never went back to it.
