But if someone said "Hughes wasn't Hughes", they were right. Hughes is trying TOO hard to make himself a more well rounded fighter. He was stupid to stand up and trade with Penn, and he was even more stupid for standing and trading with GSP.

Hughes needs to review his game, and go back to the explosive wrestler / ground and pound fighter he used to be. The fighter that was a champion.

Also as a huge Hughes fan, I agree that if Penn hadn't hurt his ribs, he probably would have beaten Matt.

We need the old Matt Hughes back.

Yes, it's important to be well rounded. But it's also important to remember what you're good at. The only good thing Hughes has done in his last 2 fights was get on top of Penn. Something he didn't do against GSP, and now he payed the price. Hopefully losing his belt will make him realize some things.
I agree with you that Hughes did not stick to his game plan and it was a bad idea to satnd up with GSP. We all saw that GSP is a well rounded fighter and completely dominated that fight. Hughes tried to take him down and Gsp was strong enought to defend it. Matt Hughes is a great fighter but now that GSP is more mature and smarter in the ring it was his turn to be UFC champ and he will be tought to beat in the future I believe.

hughes has looked like shit in at least his last 2 fights, and GSP had the skills to finish him where Penn got injured.

How can you type with hughes' swollen balls in your mouth
