What Happened to This Guy?

Name: Gerard Gordeau

Fought out of: Amsterdam

Style: Karate

Titles: 5 Time Dutch Karate Champion (As of UFC 1)

MMA Record: 2-2-0

Moment he impressed me: Kicked Hawaiian Teila Tuli in the face, ending Tuli's career 26 seconds after it started at UFC 1.

That other moment he impressed me: Beatomg the crap out of the much larger Floridian Kevin Rosier.

His fall: Being tapped out by Royce Gracie in the finals at UFC 1. (Wasn't everybody)

Last fight: Loss to good heel-hook artist Yuki Nakai.

Just wondering if anybody knows what happened to this guy. He really impressed me at UFC 1 and then he kind of disappeared.

His nickname apparently is Kancho and has his own tv show in Japan. He became a ninth DAN in kyokushin karate in 2003.

These are the people he trains or trained the last years:
Annemarie Ten Kate (Kick Boxing)
Kenneth Velter (div. vechtsporten)
Chiel de Jager (Kick Boxing)
Igor Meindert (Vale Tudo U.F.O.)
Fujita (Vale Tudo U.F.O.)
Freek Hamaker (Ultimate Fight)
Ed De Kruyf (Vale Tudo U.F.O.)
Robbie Peeters (Vale Tudo U.F.O.)
Gilbert Yvel (Freefight)
Kimo (Ultimate Fight)
Remco Pardoel (Ultimate Fight)
Andre Mannaart (Vale Tudo U.F.O.)

Together with UFO Japan chairman Inoki-San and USA chairman Mohammed Ali they will hold a peace-event in North Korea. With the goal to improve the ties between Japan and North Korea. The event lasts for two days with some of the worlds best fighters facing of in front of a whopping 180.000 fans!

He hasn't faught since UFC 1. Probably has a new completely different job. He was pretty good too, I liked his fight against Rosier. Brutal KO.

I didn't know about his new karate credentials, good stuff. I have no clue why this guy left MMA. He was by far the best striker at UFC 1. I thought that this guy was going to be back. I definitely like that Rosier KO, but the 26 second finish of Tuli. That kick to the face is one of the reasons why I wanted to start training MMA.

Cool, I began training after UFC 1 because of Royce tapping Shamrock and Gordeau. He was a decent striker, not very good compared to todays standards though.
