To the posters talking about Hughes/GSP

Many of you should head back to being WWF fans.. the beef between Matt and GSP was very minimal and just used for publicity.

Those who think Matt is a cocky bastard and thought he'd make excuses after he lost...are you just JOKING?

Is Matt VERY confident, YES.
But is he a complete JACKASS? NO!!

When you win over and over and over again, it's hard to not be confident. Did Matt Hughes take George lightly? Like Matt said "It's pretty hard to take someone like George lightly" and Matt has said he trained the hardest ever for this fight. George simply got the better of Matt, like many of us suspected, and Matt admitted it.

Was matt surprised? OF COURSE!
Even thoug Matt knew thta the math said he was probably 50/50(at best) AND had some technical disadvantages in the fight, Matt's heart must have told him he was good as gold. This slight disilluion is what occurs when you haven't lost in forever. But more to the point, its how a fighter should feel ANYWAY. No fighter should go into a fight expecting to lose.

Matt Hughes was never overrated, he is a great fighter and strong as a bull. His record speaks for itself and why would anyone consider him overrated? Because he's [arguably/probably] worse than BJ Penn and GSP? Those two guys are UNBELEIVABLE, to be in the same class as them is a lifetime achievement. To have BEATEN them BOTH(no matter what hte circumstances), is an AMAZING feat. Sure i'll have to take away a lot from the BJ penn win, but Hughes is still an amazing fighter. I pray he gets at least 2 fights before he runs into GSP and Penn again so people can see how truly strong he really is. Everyone knows Karo and Diego are beasts yet we all expect hughes to crush them. We all respect Karo and Diego a great deal, so how can you think Matt is overrated?

Just trying to bring some perspective. I look up to Hughes and GSP a great deal and admire them for every time they get into the ring. The only reason i was cheering for GSP is because I had $3K on him and he turned it into a nice 7.5K. =)

Hughes sucks royally. Name one guy he beat that was good in the last couple years or ever. He beat GSP in 04 and bj after he broke his ribs other then that nobody. Royce might be the only other one. Other then that you got, newton who is 13-10, trigg who has never been very good,Renato Verissimo 5-4, Gil Castillo 8-5, The muscle shark is the only other fighter i can think of and he took the fight to him big time.

Riggs? you serious he is total junk. Hughes has been padded plain and simple. He was getting dominated until BJ got hurt and he got destroyed by GSP.

everyones record has some padding to it like your man renato sobral he was on a 10 fight winning streek but most of those fights were in smaller organizations and his only good wins would be over shogun (shogun was still young then he would kill him now) and jeremy horn but jeremys not that great anymore

Nope I wasn't joking. I thought for sure there would be some reason for him losing, but like I said earlier I was happy to see he didn't make any excuses.

Name one guy, this that. Riggs is total junk ONLY BECAUSE of people like Hughes. Isn't that what I said in my original post. How can you call Riggs total junk and then say that matt is no good, when the reason riggs is junk is partially because matt is so good, he walks right through him.

I already covered the Penn and GSP angles...I don't think Matt is a better fighter than them. But he is still in their league.

and guess who injured BJ? Exactly, haha. Matt Hughes is still a great athlete no matter how you look at it..If he were as humble as Georges St. Pierre you'd probably think he was a tremendous athlete, i judge by actions, not words. Joe Riggs isn't complete junk either, hes a decent fighter. he just gets overshadowed by the LIKES of Georges St. Pierre, Matt Hughes, and BJ Penn..

I was under the impression that BJ's ridiculous contortionist moves dislocated his own ribs.
