Serra vs. GSP

Something to ponder. If by some turn of events Matt Serra were to beat GSP in their fight, who would get the first shot at regaining the championship, GSP or Hughes? It would be very interesting. Any ideas?

I think someone else might get a shot.

Or GSP and Hughes would fight again to see who fights Serra.

Does that mean that you think Diego and BJ are out of the loop?

No, BJ is going 155 where he'll probably dominate. I also think Serra has about as much of a chance at beating GSP as I do of knocking out Chuck Liddell. Diego is definatley in the running and if Serra (miraculously) pulls out a win Diego would beat Serra. Hughes and GSP would fight for number one contender status and would then fight Diego. I personaly think GSP is the best man in the welterwieght division.

You sure he's going down to 155? BJ said himself on his website, he staying at his current weight to get the welterweight title back.

"With all that recent press about my brother, JD, and his recent business decision, I want all my fans to know that I am committed to the ufc and to carrying out my dream of regaining the title of UFC Welterweight Champion of the World.

See you all at the UFC.

BJ Penn"

But ofcourse this was before his 2nd fight with Hughes, so maybe he'll change his mind about that. Penn just needs to train his ass off before everyfight, like how Hughes and GSP does, and he could very well dominate the welterwieght division.

Oh yeah, Serra has no chance beating GSP.

Maybe you are right. I just read in grappler magazine that Penn was going to 155. I'm not that sure. It was kinda a passing comment in an article and there were no direct quotes from BJ. I however hope he goes to lighwieght as I think he would dominat Sherk. Not to take anything away from the Muscle Shark but BJ's style matches up with Sherk's perfectly. BJ would own him standing and if Sherk managed to take him down I could see BJ slipping in a quick triangle.

That would definitly be interesting if Serra does beat GSP! The only way he could win is if something fluky happens during the match, like what happen to BJ's ribs when he was taking Hughes back!

I think what will happen is a red robin tournament between GSP, Matt Hughes, BJ Penn, and Diego Sanchez! The winner will get to face Serra for the title!

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam
