He’s definitely better than he gives himself credit for, that’s for sure. He’s tough as hell and he’s in great shape, and if you watched Bonnar/Griffin 2, you can notice a major change and improvement on the technicality of his stand up game. He uses a lot more movement and angling instead of just coming in wide and swinging, although his punches tend to be big and loopy anyway, but it works well for him.
The thing I like about Griffin is he knows his areas of improvement, and you know he’s working with the best guys in the world to improve it. He still has a looong time in the UFC, and I’m sure he’s going to be their next ‘money’ guy like Tito Ortiz was. Like Ortiz, he may not be the best and most technically sound fighter, but people love to watch him and see him, and as long as his fights are selling tickets and he’s entertaining the fans, he IS that good.
