Not too bad of a match up, but I don't agree that Sherk would get the better of the standup. He should stick to his wrestling for the rest of his career.
This would be a good fight. I dont think guidas whole "wet blanket" attack would work to well on sherk. I think sherks stand up is a little better, but not by much.
I think this could potentialy make for an interesting match-up, I'm not really sure though as to who deserves the edge on the feet. Sherk maybe for technical striking but his stand-up game hasn't been overly effective throughout his last few bouts.
I actually think that Guida's stock rose from his last fight even though he lost, he could have easily won a very good fight.
Here is what I think should happen in LW
Winner of Penn vs Florian fights Diego
Loser fights Edgar
Maynard fights Sherk
That leaves me unsure of who Guida should fight though, maybe Stevenson? Both looked good in their fights and it would be a little bit of a wrestling brawl.
Ithink sherks striking is a couple of years ahead of guida, and sherks problem or one of them is his reach but against guida I think hed connect a lot more, id take Sherk to win this one. Lets face it guidas got skills but striking really isnt one of them, as we witnessed last night.
I give Sherk credit for any type of boxing activity with those little arms.
