Thats a good point.

and as far as the criminal record thing goes, I don't think he will have too much of an issue. Japan doesn't let people fight with criminal records but somehow they let him.
(Tyson can't mma fight in Japan with Pride because of his record, says mma weekly)

So if he can work it out in Japan, I am sure he can work it out in the states.

Aleksander Emelianenko Fighter info:
MMA Record: 9-3-0
Height: 6'6
Weight: 353 (his fighting weight, no cuts)
Style: Brawler is probably the best description, but his submissions and groundnpound are great too.
Affiliation: Red Devil Sport Club

The low-down on Aleks:

His three career losses are to Cro-Cop, Barnett and to Crocop's protoge, Fabricio Werdum (who's another guy I think would smash Sylvia)

PRIDE Record of 6-2-0, with wins over Assuerio Silva (formerly of the UFC), Matt "Twin Tiger" Foki, James "The Colossus" Thompson, Ricardo "The Mutant" Morais (roughly same dimensions as Sylvia, but with a better build), Pawel Nastula (who has a bad record, but his other two losses are Barnett and Nog) and one of Russia's finest: Sergei Kharitonov.

3 of Aleks' 9 wins are in the first 30 seconds. Those wins are against:

The accomplished British brawler James Thompson

6'8 student of the Nog's, Ricardo Morais (Morais has never been stopped in a fight other than by Aleks in 15 seconds)

6'7 Dutch kickboxer Rene Rooze, who has only been TKO'd by one other fighter, Josh Barnett

Against fighters taller than himself Aleks has a record of 2-0. Those two victories are against two of the best MMA fighters that you've never heard of: Ricardo Morais (6'8, 270+) and Rene Rooze (6'7, 240ish).

My analysis:

Aleks has stopped alot of guys that have never been stopped before. His 15 second stop of Ricardo Morais was something that no one expected going into that fight. Morais had never been stopped in his career, he was taller, bigger, stronger and better on the ground, in my opinion. Aleks' aggressiveness destroyed Morais, who has a chin like a rock.

I don't see any way that any guy in the UFC can beat Aleks on his feet, especially with the kind of aggressiveness that you can expect Aleks to have. The brothers are territorial and it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't offended by Tim Sylvia's comments.

Aleks would probably smash Sylvia through the canvas in Pride, but in the UFC it's a new game, so I see him taking another fight to assert his dominance. (he'll finish everyone in the Heavyweight division within 45 seconds, except for, maybe, Brandon Vera, and that would be over in round 1)

If Aleks comes over he'll smash his first opponent and then he should get a title shot, much like Anderson Silva did. Again, we saw how a UFC champion did when he fought one of the top-tier guys over at Pride.

Aleks is also a different kind of fighter than Sylvia's used to. He's not going to b*tch out like Andrei did in their last fight. No disrespect to Arlovski or Monson, but I think they played way too conservatively in their fights with Sylvia. Aleks wont do that, he'll chase Sylvia and pound him until it's over.

Come on over, Aleks. We'd love to have you.

Tim Sylvia planted the gun.

I know he wants to come over and win the UFC HW belt. I've read rumors that AE switched management and joined a group that manages some top UFC fighters and he's ironing out the paperwork to get over here and fight. Nothing official though.
You know Dana is dying to make this happen with pressure from a weak HW class and Tim's boring bouts.

Sylvia vs. AE would be awesome. Two extremely tall HW strikers going at it toe to toe. That's almost guaranteed to be an exciting fight w/ somebody getting KTFO.

Yeah, I really hope Aleks ends up coming over to fight in the UFC, but to date i've only read 1 article stating that he has met with some UFC execs. to discuss possibly 'switching sides'. Like I said though, if he does indeed come to the UFC it will add some much needed depth in a week ass division (obviously).
As far as Aleks vs Tim goes, when/if that time comes there's a very good chance that Timmy will no longer be the champ...and for that matter may not even be able to go on living without having that belt riveted around his waist.
I would imagine the UFC would throw a few of the lower ranked HW's at Aleks just to kind of introduce him to the UFC fans before putting him in against any of their top fighters. But then again, they gave Anderson a title shot his second fight in, so ya never know.
Bottom line is, Dana and co. better do everything in their power to sign not only Aleks, but bring in a couple more quality HW's...or we may be forced to watch Arlovski/Sylvia4

Hard core MMA fans know who AE is....an accomplished Sambo fighter with some nasty hands. And there is in no need for him to fight lower level heavyweights.

Outside of Arlovski or Vera there is no one else of interest I'd want to see him fight. Plus I know Sylvia will face all sorts of problems if he and AE ever lock up.

Exactly I hope AE stays in pride Because I for one like watching top shelf fighters fight other top shelf fighters. What would we see if AE came to the ufc, AE vs tim silvia 1 2 and 3. I think he should stay where theres some real competition and I think the rules suit him better in pride.

It's good the only real person AE has fought from the UFC is Josh Barnett, who is a great fighter, inwhcih AE lost by KEY LOCK!!! (lol that gets me everytime, because instand of phasing out the pain and kick the other guy in the face (because its pride and you can) they instead sit there and take it, hehe i just find it funny for someone to have a loss to a key lock.

But then you get to see what side of the world is better, A semi good guy like AE, or Tim Syliva!! hehehe only kidding.
