Exluding lyoto, who has the best chance at beating A.silva at LHW?
we all know that lyoto is the shit right now, however they have said that they will never fight each other, regardless of circumstance, because they are friends.
Thus i'm interestd to know what the educated MMA fans of MMAF think of who poses the biggest threat to anderson silva, if he was to move up to LHW permanently. (and if you want to be analytical, a good breakdown of the reasons behind your choice would be nice.)
This being said, dana white has publicly announced that if a fight between machida and anderson is needed, then he will make it happen. If you personally believe dana's comments over lyoto's and silva's, then feel free to add lyoto into the list of possible threats, as well as explain why you think that dana could end up making it happen.
i personally can't think of any LHW fighters that could eat silva at the moment, and i believe that silva is so stubborn (as is machida to an extent) that they will probably never fight - especially since they both have a tonne of pulling power in the ufc. (both being world champions and whatnot)
So yeah, basically i'd just really like to hear everybody's thoughts on these matters. Please enlighten me.

It's gonna be a guy with great wrestling. Rashad, Rampage, Jon Jones, and Ryan Bader stand out in my mind as people who would would have the best chance if they go in with a great game plan. But I think A. Silva would beat them all.

Rampage could always slip a punch and drop him you never know. I would favor Silva against the entire LHW division. There really aren't elite grapplers at LHW meaning both wrestling and submission wizards of the BJ Penn variety. It is mostly filled with strikers who are good at one aspect of grappling. I think Shogun is probably a little better of a grappler than Silva not enough to sub him though and I think his striking style would get him murdered fast.

idk really tough question. someone shitty can just beat silva if they got a good gameplan. the fact is silvas game plan is his #1 priority, his striking and other moves and what come after. if someone like rashad or rampage got a good plan and not just swinging for the fences, they could probably last a couple rounds

Id go with Rampage, Rashad, Machida, and Shogun.
I think he definately needs to fight Hendo again. Would love to see him against Belfort and Wandy too. It would be epic to see Hendo KO Silva just like he did to Bisping.

beside machida, no one, i'd favor silva heavily against the rest....if i had to pick one, it with be rampage if he went back to his wrestling, which he hasn't used as much since coming to the ufc....i'd favor anderson over machida.

hmmmm, good question! Shogun had trained with A.Silva in the past so he might have a good idea what gameplan he should and should not use. Then again it has been a few years since those two were in chutebox together so that might not work to Shogun's advantage!

Hahahah I love the random Lyoto favoritism over Silva, so odd. Anderson Silva is a more aggressive and powerful version of Machida, how in the world would Machida beat someone that is better than him in every part of the game with the exception of wrestling, although Machida isn't aggressive enough to actually shoot for a TD.
Regardless, I think Rampage and Evans would give Silva trouble. While Evans was just KTFO, he has a good chin and good wrestling, and Rampage has a great chin and good wrestling.

Anderson would beat machida, i agree with you, he doesn't want to hurt his friends career though...so that sucks, since outside the heavywieght class, machida is the only guy anderson really has to try.
