Anderson takes this imo.

this fight would be a very lackluster stalemate. both fighters would be unwilling to engage, and be throwing the odd strike before getting out of range again. i'd say lyoto would be more likely to win a decision because anderson doesn't mind taking the odd punch or kick. anderson would be more likely to finish though, he could catch lyoto's kicks and unload on his chin.

i honestly couldn't call this fight, its a 50/50 in my book. i'd want anderson to win, but its just too close to call.

My thoughts arre it would be a battle of atienc....remember, Machida is famous for letting his opponents come to him, but also attacking in a mnnor in which by the time he has thrown the strike he is no longer where he was when he threw it...i realize anderson possess many of these skills and the dude is sick...

Botom line it would really be the biggest fight in UFC history......

Obviously, we know where I stand....

There were many valid reasons that you guys could be right........MAYBE...one day we'll see....for sure though Anderson is a bad man.....

Surprised that peeps are finally giving Anderson respect. Just under a week ago Forrest was meant to dominate him, and now everybody knows what guys like I and Alex Delarge were talking about.

Dude's a machine.

Meh, I'm wouldn't be real excited were this fight to ever happen. Both are great but their styles are far to similar to make a great fight. The only difference for me is that Silva is capable of finishing the fight whereas Machida could only win via decision as I don't think he could KO Silva. Either way I think it would be a rather uneventful fight with one guy outpointing the other for a decision.

This fight would be two of the most amazing, artistic, precise, devastating mixed martial artists....standing there waiting for the other to attack so they could institute their game plan.
If some kind of beef or bad blood develops between them...then maybe.
If they could be conivned to both go in their striking with intent....whoowheee would that be sweet.
I would LOVE to see them go in aggressively and engage in the artistic barbarism that high level mixed martial arts can be at its finest.

They have both said it is never going to happen though. So, the simple and obvious answer is....tell Anderson that Lyoto slept with his wife. And tell Lyoto that Anderson said Karate is stupid, and he should go back to Mr. Miyagi and stop drinking piss.

Let the bad blood begin!

Machida is an excellent fighter and has been very impressive, but Anderson just seems to be on a whole other level now. IMO it would be a very bad move for Machida to try and stand up with Silva. I think he'd be better off using his strikes to set up take-downs and work GnP. That way I think he could win by decision or possibly even, a very late in the fight TKO. However, I think it's more likely Silva wins by KO in 2nd/3rd round.

Christ, I wouldn't know where to begin. But before I talk about nothing, let me start by saying I chose Silva, although the sheer speed of the footwork by these two would be like the Flash running in circles, causing a whirlwind effect.

I could see this one being a pointfest as well. Not that I see a lot of engaging from both guys, but I can't remember the last time I've seen either of them rocked - if strikes were to land on either side; Anderson has taken some bombs from Rivera while in the midst of a tight clinch, and they barely seemed to phase him.

I see these two as mirror images of themselves with the exception of their Silva's MT and Machida's Karate. IMO Silva appears to hit harder, although I really have no basis for that other than Rich's nose...and Machida KO'd him too.

In the end I couldn't choose a side to bet on, and I'd go with Anderson as he has the longer reach (77 vs 74).

here is my point of view.
i would pick machida in this one. here's why:
standing: i see silva getting the better of machida, BUT, machida is so elusive, nobody ever tagged him. he barely got hit in all of his fights. silva has the best striking, but in order to do some damage he needs to hit him. in order to hit machida, he needs to go after him. and we all know what happens to people who go after machida. and machida's striking very good, not as good as silva's but i would rank his striking in the top 5. easily.
wrestling/takedowns: i pick machida easy. he has great takedowns, great ground game. he is slightly bigger than silva and has the upper hand on this one. his jiu-jitsu is also good. not that silva has a poor ground game, but nobody realy tested him except lutter and hendo. lutter got wreckless and forgot basics and hendo didn't do a lot because he doesn't have great jiu jitsu.

all in all, i see machida comming out a winner out of this one, by decision.
