Yes, Sean Sherk is a great fighter. He had a blunder against Frankie Edgar, plain and simple.
Haha, yes, he is much better then Kenny. He swept every round against Florian and probably even threw in a few 10-8's in there. He's much better then Kenny Florian.
Still going on about Kenny Florian finishing Joe Stevenson? Jesus, if it was THAT big of a deal that Kenny finished Joe quicker then BJ, you should have predicted Kenny Florian to beat BJ Penn on that sheer fact. I mean really, you keep going on about it. The way you're speaking it sounds as if people should have predicted Kenny because of that. Yes, Kenny finished Joe and Diego took him to a decision. Diego also destroyed Kenny and would destroy him again at 155, nullifying any opponent comparison. Why is it your entire argument centers around Joe Stevenson and MMA math?
Since we're playing this game, it took Joe Lauzon to finish Jens Pulver quicker then BJ did. I suppose we should give Joe more credit for such a significant accomplishment and maybe we can even make the assumption Joe Lauzon is the guy to take the belt off BJ.
I'm going to assume you constantly live in the past?
Fighters improve, they change, they get better. Guess what? Kenny has grown as a fighter a great deal since he fought both Sanchez and Sherk.
Frankie was was a "blunder"? Yeah, ok, because when you use the same terrible game plan in your last 3 fights and lose two of them becasue of it, it's a "blunder".
I'm not using MMA math, what I'm stating is if you look at all of their recent competition, Kenny is without quesetion the most impressive out of the two. Kenny has grown as a fighter, and I would pick him to defeat Sherk, as Sherk doesn't fight like he's supposed to anymore, he's a "striker" now.
You have this amazing ability to stick to the past, and assume fighters never improve. Do you also believe Shogun is going to be the top guy at 205 because back in 2005 he was the best in the world at that weight?
I'm going to assume so, as you seem to completely ignore the fact that fighters improve over time, and guys like Sherk are actually looking less and less impressive as they fight. Oh, and, Diego isn't some prospect that is coming in to take B.J's belt, he's nothing special, not one at LW is "special" except B.J.
The rest of the guys that have been mentioned(Kenny, Sherk, Sanchez) are top lightweights, and they can beat each other on any given day.
Kenny is a top lightweight, right up there with the rest of them, they all fall below B.J, though.
