Roger Huerta, Joe Stevenson, Din Thomas, Joe Lauzon, not one great fighter in the bunch. BJ Penn, Sean Sherk, Diego Sanchez, all great fighters. Kenny did nothing against them, nothing, not even ANYTHING convincingly. In order to be considered a great fighter, you atleast have to have somewhat a bit success against another great fighter. The best thing he did in all of those fights was hold one of them against the cage in hopes and prayers that he would gas out....that is it, oh and intently try to stop the Sherk fight by perfectly and purposely grazing his elbow against his forehead.

The UFC lightweight division is full of fighters above average status and very few good ones. Saying Kenny Florian is one of the best lightweights in the UFC doesn't leave a big impression and it certainly doesn't mean he's a great fighter. Go ahead, put him up against another great fighter, he's smoked and out of his league.
Lol, God, your hate for Kenflo is actually amusing.

So, let me get this straight, Sean Sherk is a "Great" fighter but Kenny is not? Is this the same Sherk that just lost his last fight against Frankie because he's too stupid to fight his fight? Or is this the Sean Sherk who, at best, has had a 3 fight win streak where as Kenny(before he has improved at the rate he has) was his best win?

Yeah, he's MUCH better than Kenny.

Oh, and Sanchez? Yes, the man who went to a decision with Guida, who couldn't even finish Joe(Kenny did, even faster than B.J), is a "great" Fighter.

Are you serious? Really, are you?

I hardly see the point in even mentioning Diego and Kenny fighting at 185.... that was over 4 years, and 30 pounds ago.

I'm not necessarily saying Kenny would win now but i'm sure it would be closer since when they fought KenFlo was a fatty and Diego was all muscle. Totally different builds and skill set now, i'm sure Diego still has a strength advantage but not like it was in 2005.

Yes, Sean Sherk is a great fighter. He had a blunder against Frankie Edgar, plain and simple.

Haha, yes, he is much better then Kenny. He swept every round against Florian and probably even threw in a few 10-8's in there. He's much better then Kenny Florian. Lol I even love how you're now downgrading Sean Sherk while simultaneously making Kenny Florian look worse in the process considering Sherk gave him a beat down. Nice one.

Still going on about Kenny Florian finishing Joe Stevenson? Jesus, if it was THAT big of a deal that Kenny finished Joe quicker then BJ, you should have predicted Kenny Florian to beat BJ Penn on that sheer fact. I mean really, you keep going on about it. The way you're speaking it sounds as if people should have predicted Kenny because of that. Yes, Kenny finished Joe and Diego took him to a decision. Diego also destroyed Kenny and would destroy him again at 155, nullifying any opponent comparison. Why is it your entire argument centers around Joe Stevenson and MMA math? Florian took this long to beat Joe while BJ took this long. BJ PENN BEAT KENNY FLORIAN, enough said. Who cares how long it took to do this and that when by fighter-fighter comparison...in the cage, in a fight, BJ Penn defeated Kenny Florian. I don't care if A beat C in 3 minutes while B beat C by split decision when B beats A in 2 rounds...it doesn't matter. Can it get anymore simple?

Since we're playing this game, it took Joe Lauzon to finish Jens Pulver quicker then BJ did. I suppose we should give Joe more credit for such a significant accomplishment and maybe we can even make the assumption Joe Lauzon is the guy to take the belt off BJ.

I'm going to assume you constantly live in the past?

Fighters improve, they change, they get better. Guess what? Kenny has grown as a fighter a great deal since he fought both Sanchez and Sherk.

Frankie was was a "blunder"? Yeah, ok, because when you use the same terrible game plan in your last 3 fights and lose two of them becasue of it, it's a "blunder".

I'm not using MMA math, what I'm stating is if you look at all of their recent competition, Kenny is without quesetion the most impressive out of the two. Kenny has grown as a fighter, and I would pick him to defeat Sherk, as Sherk doesn't fight like he's supposed to anymore, he's a "striker" now.

You have this amazing ability to stick to the past, and assume fighters never improve. Do you also believe Shogun is going to be the top guy at 205 because back in 2005 he was the best in the world at that weight?

I'm going to assume so, as you seem to completely ignore the fact that fighters improve over time, and guys like Sherk are actually looking less and less impressive as they fight. Oh, and, Diego isn't some prospect that is coming in to take B.J's belt, he's nothing special, not one at LW is "special" except B.J.

The rest of the guys that have been mentioned(Kenny, Sherk, Sanchez) are top lightweights, and they can beat each other on any given day.

Kenny is a top lightweight, right up there with the rest of them, they all fall below B.J, though.

For the most part I gotta say I agree with Alex, I dont consider Kenny a great fighter, he is good but he will never be considered an "Elite" level LW, this reminds me of that Sports Illustrated article from like 8 months ago that questioned Rich Franklin's legacy in the spot because he never beat anyone they considered one of the best MW's ever.

That said Alex how can you bash Kenny and then use the same logic to elevate Diego Sanchez? Who has Sanchez beat? The Nightmare is just a dream man, he is a glorified brawler who will be picked apart by a much more skilled striker, out wrestled by somebody who's take down defense is miles ahead of his wrestling and if it hits the ground submitted by the best BJJ practitioner in the LW division by far. Just like Kenny, Diego has no possible way to win this fight, he is the worse fighter in every aspect. Expect and epic beat down to be delivered by Penn.
