Why not?

He looks very good at 205. The only issue is the 220lbs and 285lbs at fight time. I have issues with that, not saying that he can't win but the huge gap in weight will inevitably catch up with a guy.

I'm gonna play out a situation just how I see it going.
Brock vs. Silva
Bell rings, Brock doesn't want to trade with Anderson and explodes into him....Anderson doesn't have great takedown defense, Brock gets him down. Mir is pretty good on the bottom, so is Anderson but Brock completely negated hip movement thus grinding Frank's face with those mallets he calls fists. I see Brock with his 65lbs of extra weight basically out muscling Anderson and pounding him out.
That's my issue with Anderson going to Heavyweight.

Would I like to see Anderson in the Heavyweight division, hell ya, just letting my gripe out before it happens

You think so? I think he's got tougher fights at LHW than at HW. heck, he's just as tall as most of the HWs and his limbs are just as long for the most part, no? ...but most of the HWs are going to lack the speed necessary for sound defense...and who's going to hit him? granted....the fist are now the size of small farm animals and could potentially render him quite unconcious... but he's been able to avoid strikes that were coming a lot faster than most HWs can throw.

Not trying to argue really.... just debating.

I think Anderson would destroy him pretty easily. Silva would only have about a 20lb weight disadvantage, and he's definitely on a whole other level than Mir. If Mir had good wrestling I would say he would win, but he doesn't. He also hasn't seemed to like being hit very much, and Silva will do that pretty well too.

Its cool to see but I think this is all just hype and won't happen. I still want to see it. And the whole size thing against Mir isn't a big deal since Anderson's strenghths come not from size (like a person with a wrestling background) but from speed and agility (Muay Thai, BJJ, Kickboxing, etc.). Its not like Mir knows how to use his size anyways. He's not an accomplished wrestler anyways and would stupidly try to go punch-for-punch standing up. A big wrestler like Lesnar, on the other hand, would destroy as long as he can catch him (Lesnar is just as fast as Hendo or Lutter).

You do make good points here. ...I would just respond that once Lutter got mount on Silva, he then got sub'd with a triangle from the bottom...or he tapped due to elbows to his noggin', either way you care to look at it.

Frank Mir does have skills on the ground. I just don't think he'd have much of an opportunity to utilize them. ...just my opinion.

I'm as uninterested in a Silva vs. Lesnar fight as you can possibly be in a fight. There are some matchups at HW that I could see, but Lesnar is not one. If they fought on their feet the whole bout Silva would wipe the floor with Brock...but that just won't happen. Lesnar took down Mir in both fights at will, and he's much stronger than Silva. Brock would just lay on top of Silva for the entire fight.

A Silva vs. Mir would be a hell of a fight though.

Again if guy's like Lutter and Leites can get him to the ground why can't Frank Mir? If Lutter can mount him why can't Mir? like I said if Mir ever got mount on Silva like Lutter did Silva's arm is breaking.

I'd just enjoy seeing them fight. I think Silva rolls with some high level jits dudes in training and might be more capable on the ground than a lot of people think. his wrestling and bjj against Hendo could be an indicator.. Hendo did keep him down and Hendo tried to work g&p on Silva. ....but he wound up giving up his back and getting submitted.

It's be an interesting fight though, eh?
