if silva can overcome that kind of challenge he is #1 no question.

I want for Shogun to beat Machida by knockout, and shortly after to stop Anderson Silva as well. That would be fantastic! Rua would quickly be moved in TOP 3 fighters in the world.

i think its really dumb how machida and silva wont fight eachother, IF you wanna be the best fight the best, and they wont do it.

Initially wondered why he wanted Mir then I realized he's avenging Big Nog's loss. Oh man...

This is fawkin' phenomenal. Has there ever been a fighter moving up three weight classes. If Lyoto weren't there there's no doubt in mind he would be LHW champ. But HW...wow man! If anyone can, he can do it!

The best in your division. Silva belongs to MW and Machida to LHW, both of them already proved to be the best there. Everything else does not mean that much because Fedor is not in UFC and he's considered as the best fighter in minds of way too many hardcore fans. Whatever happens in UFC leads to him, but he's not under Dana White's thumb which is why undisputed fighter cannot be officially named as long as Fedor is still fighting and winning. When Emelianenko gets Strikeforce belt, joins UFC (hopefully) and gets the belt also, then he'll be officially considered the best fighter no matter what because his collection will include by then PRIDE, WAMMA, Strikeforce and UFC belts (all major organizations) and that's amazing + no losses on his record, who has done that?

davros has a little shameless behaviour in the past
best fighter . . .

'Best fighter' is a bit meaningless hence best pound for pound. Silva must have it now since he's destroyed two LHW, one a recent champion whereas Fedor, being a HW, can't fight much bigger and can only beat everyone with style which he has for 30 fights (but no champs recently).

I think we're suckers for Dana's marketing machine. I see nothing wrong with Fedor going to Strikeforce and winning that before going to UFC. Brock Lesnar is nobody to Fedor until he's defended his title a few times. Well done Fedor. Expect him to join the UFC in a few years.

Silva's biggest threat must be an aggressive LHW+ wrestler. Poor Forest with his brute force stand-up style was (with hindsight) the perfect showcase for Anderson. And I could see Rampage going the same way unless he re-discovers his wrestling. But taking him down will be the hurdle (see Ortiz vs Machida or Ortiz vs Liddell).

Anderson has great BJJ but so does Mir and look what power wrestling did to him. Bear in mind Hendo's had the best attempt so far with a bit of brutality on the ground until he got submitted.

As much as I'd like to see him fight Machida there's no reason he can't fight at HW if he's got the balls. Although . . . is HW 206 to 265 lbs or just under 265 lbs? There are obvious safety issues for a wee guy to take on Lesnar even if they are both under 265.

Silva against Mir would be entertaining, and dare I say waaaaaaaay more interesting than FORCING Silva to fight Machida. We've all see how the fight goes when Silva is bored or uninterested. Silva-Machida would be a snooze fest. Silva-Mir has the ability and marketability to be one of the most highlight reel worthy knockouts/submissions in a long time.

If Silva somehow managed to beat Brock Lesnar, he wouldn't only be the best fighter right now, but probably the best fighter of all time. I believe he's already the best fighter in the world now. Beating someone of that magnitude would definitely solidify him as the best MMA fighter of all time, imo.

That said, I don't see it happening. Silva, too small. Lesnar, big, strong, powerful, great wrestler, no good for Anderson.

I don't care if you're 200 or 300 pounds, I think if you stand with Silva, you are going down PERIOD... the mighty Brock Lesnar being no exception. A guy like Mir, Cro Cop, Dos Santos, I believe would all lose based on the fact that their instincts will be to strike back when struck.
Lesnar would be the only real threat, Silva could own him trading shots, but Brock's wrestling instincts would kick in fast even if it means him collapsing on the man he would outweigh by over close to 60 lbs.
Either way, I like this a lot. I love the Spider, but I also love the Middleweight division... and as long as Anderson is around, everyone is just standing in line to be first in his shadow.
