Why did Ken Shamrock leave the UFC in the 90's?

He was like the king of the octagon why did he leave to go on and wrestle with the wwe for a cuple of years? It was sad because he didnt evolve with the sport...if he had stayed i bet everything would be differnt with him and tito

no doubt about it , Kens move to the wwf tarnished/hindered his mma career/skills, but not too the point where him and Tito would be a close or competitive fight, no matter what even in Kens prime Ortiz would own his ass without breaking a sweat, lets actually take a prime Ken Shamrock of 1993-1996, the same man who couldnt even FINISH or decisevely beat a 1 dimensional Welterweight (170lber)MMA is way above and beyond the Ken Shamrock Era, nothing would have changed the outcome

to answer you're question, Ken left UFC for WWF simply for fatter pay cheques , which you cant blame the man , $ is everything

Ok, did you really just state that Tito would beat Shamrock in his prime??? Have you seen his earlier fights? Watch him fight Kimo back in the early days and see how powerful and agile he was in the clinch. I have the utmost respect for Tito as a fighter, but he wouldn't have lasted back in the early days of the tournament style UFC.

I thnik that MMA has evolved alot since Ken's glory days. I don't think Tito was part of that evolution though. I think Ken was a beast in his early days and I woulda love'd to see that fight. I'm not neccessarily saying shamrock would win, but he'd have a damn good chance. By the time he got around to Tito he was slowed by pro wrestling, old as hell, and some what dispirited.

He knew everyone loved Tito and had all but forgotten him. He saw the way he was represented on TUF, as the bad guy. Before there third fight he made some sad statements. He said that in the second fight "all my stars were lined up" that he had trained really hard for one final show, he also didn't expect to win the third confrontation. Hence why he said "we made allota money together" after the fight. He was there for one last pay day to retire with.

Cash makes people do stupid things, right?

It definitely hurt his career. But the WWF was paying him the big bucks. Unfortunately he came back and the UFC had evolved and he was no longer what he was in the early days of the tournament style UFC

You are absolutely right, at the time the UFC was still in it's beginning stages and Ken was not making the kind of money he wanted to but once the MMA scene changed especially the UFC Ken came right back to his roots, and Tito would have never stood a chance against Shamrock back in his prime and under the old rules IMO...

You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
