One of the Greatest Light Heavyweight title fights ever?
Dana seems to think Shogun and Machida has this kind of potential.

Am I underestimating Shogun's abilities? I was thinking he didnt stand a chance against Machida but maybe I'm wrong. His UFC career has been short and nothing to overly brag about.
Who has Shogun beat in the past?

Chuck Liddell, Alistair Overeem, Antônio Rogério Nogueira, Rampage Jackson, Akihiro Gono, Mark Coleman and Ricardo Arona to name a few. He's only lost 3 fights in his MMA career, 1 to Babalu Sobral early in his career, 1 to Coleman that he avenged and then a loss to Forrest Griffin; who in his next fight won the LHW title.
Rua's no mug, he was seriously impressive in PRIDE. He won the PRIDE Middleweight Tournament in 2005, and was hugely impressive, dominating Ricardo Arona in the final; who in the Semi-Final of that tournament, beat the big favourite, PRIDE MW Champion Wanderlei Silva. For a 27 year old he's done alot, and I'd love to see him get back to his PRIDE form against Machida, if he does he'll definitely have a chance. I certainly wouldn't write Shogun off, I think he could pull off a big surprise, I hope so, I like Shogun alot.

ohhhh touchy!. He wasn't being a "prick" he essentially was asking you to do your own research. Is that really bad? I often do my own research before asking a question. This is a forum, treat people with respect or you won't last long

I clearly stated his UFC career has been short.
3 fights.....would you say that is short?
My question was then who has he beat? I know he comes from Pride, but I havent followed him there, so I wanted to know what he had done there, thus the question for members to answer, not respond with sarcastic comments. Thank you for nothing!

I was disrespected first by a sarcastic comment. Yes I know what wikipedia is. Is it wrong of me to want to start a conversation on Shogun? I don't know much about the guy, does it do me that much good to read the facts on the Wikipedia page or get some honest opinions from those who have watched and followed him?
Perhaps I could have reworded the question more, but I was unaware that on this forum you would be attacked so quickly for wanting to do what you do on a forum!

as someone mentioned earlier, all you have to do is wikipedia a fighters name and it will give you an entire list of their fights. He hasn't had a short career, but in the ufc yes it has been short. The point is, that he is a highly ranked lhw, that is part of the reason why he is getting a shot.

To the OP: After Wandy lost his PRIDE title to Dan Henderson, and before the loss to Griffin, Shogun was the #1 ranked light heavyweight in the world on most lists. He is an exciting fighter and typically dominates and finishes fights. Shogun has world class jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai making him extremely well rounded. Many believe he was the uncrowned PRIDE light heavyweight champion because him and Wanderlei Silva would never fought each other because they trained together and were "like brothers".
