I run a concert venue and want to hold a private, no-cover-charge viewing of UFC 102 on our 300" projection screen. I am unsure if this is legal, illegal, or "in the grey."

Does anyone have any information or links that would help me?

Additional Info:
I wanted to invite friends... who could invite friends/co-workers. I could easily see 100 people showing up. Also, the concert venue is owned by a non-profit organization (doubt that matters). I have heard of churches being sued for showing The Super Bowl on a screen that is larger than 60."

I want to keep showing these PPV fights at this venue in the future. Honestly, if there is a chance for legal trouble.. it could easily happen to us. The local venues that do show the fight have awful facilities. I could see their business being affected by my good-will gesture (I have room for 300 people). Some bar owner would "blow-the-whistle" on us sooner or later.

I personally don't know, but you might want to go onto the UFC site and email them or talk to your PPV provider.

Even if you get some advice from here, it's probably still a good idea to talk to your PPV provider/UFC.

In the uk, if it is a private function not for profit then it should be ok. If you have anything for sale at the event - beer, food etc then you can get in trouble for it.

To repeat what Gavin said, usually you need a special licence for showing PPV events in a public facility i.e. a bar or club. But if you aren't charging anyone anything it *technically* shouldn't matter. And anyway, no one will probably find out...
