If Cro Cop doesn't win, I'm through as a fan of his.....

haha, just kidding. I'm a true fan, through and through. I thoroughly think Mirko can win. If he can handle a powerful striker like Aleks, he can handle Dos Santos.

Cro Cop is one of the biggest names in the history of the sport, but his fight game has not evolved as quickly, if at all, compared to other MMA fighters. His fight style is exceedingly predictable: plod forward flat footed, throw a couple punches, telegraph the head kick.

Unfortunately for Cro Cop, you can see him coming from a mile away. Unless he incorporates some footwork such as lateral movement left and right, some head movement, his unwillingness to mix up his offensive attack makes him a vulnerable for any decent KO artist in the UFC (Shane, and Junior, to name two).

When this fight was announced I will admit I had never heard of Junior dos Santos. I just figured he was one of the many blank faces in the UFC heavyweight division who were mere cannon fodder for guys moving up the ranks. But when I took a look at his last two fights I realized this guy's potential. He threw the perfect uppercut vs Werdum and just mauled Stephen Struve as if a 7 foot tall man was just a punk teenager.

He presents a HUGE danger to CroCop in terms of power, but his ground game (as far as I know) is kind of a question mark. Of course being part of the Nougeria camp, you can't diascount that he has a solid defense on the ground. The only thing I can really say about him in a negative sense is that he appears to be a little sloppy with his strikes.

Junior dos Santos is surprisingly quick and can pounce quickly. I'm not even going to mention his strength because you don't even need eyes to tell how powerful this dude is. I think behind Carwin and Gonzaga, he may have the third most brute strenght in his strikes among the UFC's heavyweights.

But I don't believe he will beat Crocop. That is, of course, if Mirko is truly prepaired for the octogon this time.

We've heard over and over about how Crocop is focused now and how he is ready for the UFC but he has never looked comfortable in the cage. He always seems to be trying to find his spacing and just seems afraid to really fire off a good shot. Probably because he knows he can't pull a Rocky Balboa and bounce himself off the ropes. Instead he'll hit the cage and get trapped.

Now here's a crazy idea that might work in Crocop's favor. He might consider taking this fight to the ground. He may want to catch dos Santos sleeping and put him on his back. Play the levels game and keep Junior guessing. Then set up the strikes from there. Fake a shoot and throw a high kick. Its a really bizzare stratigy for Crocop to employ, that's whý it could work.

If I were Mirko I wouldn't chance it on the feet honestly. Even if Junior is sloppy with his striking, I can't really say standing and trading with him is a good idea if your aren't comfortable in a cage. Now if Mirko has worked on circling off the cage and putting combos together, instead of the one-strike festival which was the fight with Al-Turk, he should take the fight on the feet with ease.

Regardless of what happens between now and fight night, we're all going to keep wondering which Crocop will show up at 103. The #1/2 heavyweight Pride Crocop, or the unranked and insignificant Mirko Crocop of the UFC.
Sounds about right. The best Mirko was against Wand at his peak when he KOed em. Vicious GNP, mid left kicks over and over til his ribs were bruised, then a perfect set up for the LHK. His style is still the same after all these years. Left cross, circle, lk, etc. Really pulling for Mirko though!

I still dont understand why he isnt a LHW, I swear he is just stubborn, he weighs like 10 pounds more than Anderson Silva.

I think that crocop will be focused and in top form, which translates into dos santos having no chance in hell. Crocop is one hell of a counter striker when he is on, and it only takes one of his kicks to any part of the body to completely change the way his opponent is fighting. Keep in mind that crocop is a top notch k1 striker and dos santos hasnt been in this sport for very long. I think that the gonzaga fight was a lack of preperation. The kongo fight was a combination of him taking nut shots and getting muscled around. Dos santos wont be able to muscle him around and wont be able to take him down. This one ends early and violently. Im officially on the "crocop winning gold in the ufc" train.

Dos Santos by KO Rd 1. I'm not convinced that Mirko is back ... since his last back to back losses being completely dominated in the UFC he:

- beat a slow lumbering HMC.
- was getting killed by Overeem until the NC
- eye-poked his way to a win against a total can

None of this is very convincing, compared to the kind of streak Dos Santos is on. If Mirko is truly on track, it could be a great war on the feet, but I highly doubt it.

CC has said many times he can not make the cut to 205, and that he doesn't want to... he carries a lot more muscle mass than Silva, which makes a big difference when cutting weight.

As far as the fight is concerned, I have CC winning this fight, hopefully by KO via left straight.

He has never even tried. I know he doesnt want to, but he should the UFC HW division is huge compared to him. His place should be at 205. There is no way a man of his size doesnt have the water weight to cut to get down to 205. If a muscular guy like alves can cut 30 pounds to get to 170 Cro Cop could cut 25-30 pounds to hit 205. He actually looked like he was carrying more fat than normal in his last fight.

That might be true, but I think he's fine at HW. Fedor could cut to 205 much easier than Mirko could IMO.
