The coverage was awful. Truly bad...

And if it's true that the US spike version had ads too, how come every time ESPN rejoined the broadcast, it was mid way through a replay of the round???

We didn't see any replays, audio was screwed up for 60 minutes of the show....

just total garbage again from ESPN. They're ruining UFC for me, you can't get into when there's ads between fights and between rounds. It's more like the rounds break up the ads..

Just be quiet man. I knew there would be a ton of people bitching about ESPN's coverage.

The only thing ESPN got wrong tonight was the sound - which was addressed half way through.

Now as for the OP and others complaining about ad's in between rounds. I find it incredible that you couldn't realise the situation - specifically that the U.S. feed was littered with adverts - what are ESPN supposed to do?

Are you expecting them to have their own cameras there or something? Do you want them to show the American adverts? I'd say they probably missed about five seconds of coverage last night. The whole show is designed to promote/and is paid for by advertising.

It just shows a complete lack of awareness from people who have clearly never seen a Fight Night broadcast before. As for whoever had the audacity to complain about ESPN showing their own logo, whilst waiting for the US feed to come back. That was for our benefit so they could go back the second the Americans did - which they did 90% of the time.

I'd love to see anyone on here try and edit that minefield together at 1/2am in the morning. All coverage of a fight night will be terrible no matter what country you are in. The fights are almost secondary to advertising motives.

Man, you're full of it...

So spike TV has ad breaks between all rounds uh, from bell to bell? So then "mr know it all"..

who is watching the replays? Does the UFC just makes replays inbetween rounds for the sake of it.

And there WAS replays between rounds last night which were cut by ESPN ads, NOT broadcast cuts by the UFC/Spike.

Well yeah they do actually make replays for 'the sake of it'.

If you go to a live event they show all the replays, corners on the big screens. The entire thing is edited live and shown to the arena audience as well as the TV viewers. They record them for the DVDs.

I'm pretty sure they did go to a break after every round. The US guys will be able to confirm. A lot of the time they come back off a break a couple of seconds before the start of a round and show a bit of a replay.

Every time it popped up 'UFC Fight Night' and the guitar riff after ad breaks. That is not ESPN doing that. That is them reconnecting with the US feed. Granted they have to push a button so maybe they missed a second here and there. You could actually see the starts of some US adverts on the feed because they cut away from the action that quick in the States.

Like I said the whole show is paid for by advertisers in the States. That is part of the reason why us UK fans got so much flak from the American members when we got annoyed about the 101 coverage. They are used to it from every UFN.

Bottom line is UK fans are acting like spoiled princesses, those of use watching spike get the same add breaks and most of the time we are paying out are asses for PPV. I think you all should spend a couple months paying for fights like the rest of us and see how much you bitch about ads then.

Probably already cleared up, but its not ESPN's fault at all, we view what the US views just with UK ads instead, simple as that.

I dont see the problem. Fight nights have always had commercials in bewteen rounds. We do not see fighters entrances or many replays if any on a fight night in the US.

There isn't a problem. Just frustrating to see a short-sighted thread that has a title so wide of the mark.

The fact that this has been explained, and people are still complaining is beyond me. Fight nights = adverts.

The reason for this should be fairly obvious. Also the fact that every other Fight Night is the same should of helped people to understand what to expect.

ESPN did nothing wrong. The 101 mishap has made people quick to blame everything on them. 103 will view like 102 did. Calm down, relax and stop bitching at problems that don't exist.
