Gray Maynard's Performance
Although overall I was impressed with Gray's performance, I must say I was a little shocked. I don't know if I overrated Maynards hands but they seemed EXTREMLEY one dimensional; however still affective. I mean, was he accurate? Absolutely. Was he quick? Defininately. But I mean, He litereally utilized his right hand, to the head and body, and the occasional left hand.
What I'm saying is, all in all, Gray Maynard exectues what he knows almost flawlessly but it seems as though he doesn't know that much.
He needs to work on lateral movement, 3 (at least) punch combos, and LEG KICKS. He doesn't have to be the next Van Damme or anything but at least be able to kick enough to give him a little more length to his shortish frame.
His take down defense is phenomenal, literally couldn't be better, his take downs are excellent (best at LW bar none), and even his top game is decent BJJ-wise: just a little inexperienced.
I mean, he has potential to be the best light weight in the world considering he is the best wrestler at 155 lbs in the UFC, but at the same time if he doesn't expand his game, he will not stay undefeated; even with the good performance last neight, he looked very beatable.
By good I don't necessarily mean entertainment wise (although I was pretty entertained [to an extent] i like Gray) but he fought well against a top tier guy.
