I don't think so. Be realistic and objective about this. Diego hasn't beaten anyone that good. He is the best of the 2nd tier WW fighters in the UFC. That's all the credit I can give him. You know the UFC is just padding his record. If the guy is so good, why isn't he on ppv cards more often? They are hyping him up so much, but once he fights Hughes, Penn or GSP, he will get knocked lights out and face the nightmare.

He is still number 4 IMO. But dont say he's beat no one. Karo was a HIGHLY rated WW when Diego beat him and he still is. Plus Diego just won in extermly impressive fashion. He deserves a shot you cant just keep having the same guys fight for the belt over and over anyway. Plus I think Diego has a good chance at any of the top 3.

Tonight's win wasn't a good example of Sanchez's skills. It was a good punch...period. But, a win is a win and Sanchez has a lot of 'em under his belt (oh....and *no* professional losses by the way). I think he's next in line to fight for the title. There are no other welterweight fighters at Sanchez's level who haven't already had a shot at the title (or already held it).

Amen!

I agree. Lets see diego beat ANY of the TOP contenders for the WW belt. He hasnt beaten any of the top guys in that division. I think the ufc should put Diego vs Matt Hughes, the winner gets a shot at GSP. You know matt gets a rematch, so lets make him (or diego) earn it. Until he beats matt or bj, he isnt title ready.

the is probably the worst thread i have seen in awhile, true he hasent beat gsp, penn, or hughes but neither have 99% of the fighters out there. you cant have these 3 guys continusouly fight each other over and over. He has beaten riggs, karo, and diaz. Give the guy a break he is now 19-0 with some impressive wins. just beacause he hasnet beat on of the big 3 dosent mean he is not ready for a title shot. As a matter of fact penn is lazy although skillful. hughes has skills but is getting older and the both are comming off losses while sanchez has yet to face defeat. So he is probaly the most deserving person in the division of a title shot. Matt serra lay and gayed his way to a title shot or else sanchez would be next in line. Oh boy here we go:

Who did Quarry beat to get a shot at Franklin?
Who did Silva beat to get a shot at Franklin?
Who did Riggs beat to get a shot at Hughes?
Who did Monson beat to get a shot at Sylvia?
Whodid Frank Triggs beat to get a shot at Hughes?
The list goes on & on...

This is not a jab at any of the above fighters, I'm just trying to make a point, who did these people beat to "deserve" a title shot?

The UFC has no real structure for a title shot gaunlet for someone to pass thru, they just send up whoever they think will put money on the table...period

Whatever buddy. Let's see him fight Frank Triggs also.
The guy is beating these lower tier WW division fighters. 19-0, so what?

I'm not sure that there's *no* structure to it....

But, I agree that a PPV with GSP vs. Sanchez would bring in 'dem dollaz. On top of the fact that that I think Sanchez is the next natural choice for a title shot any way.
