If Vitor beats Franklin?

Does Belfort get a title shot if he beats Rich Franklin? I know this is a catchweight fight, but he would have just beaten a guy that can beat anyone at middleweight except silva. Im hoping Vitor gets the win and a title shot, because i would be much more excited to see belfort vs silva then a silva rematch with hendo or nate. Thoughts?

When Vitor wins, he will face Anderson Silva in a mega main event!

It would propel Vitor to the top, definitely.

The way the timeline should read if he does win:

1) Silva out w. elbow; Hendo v. Marquardt [November '09, and gives the UFC its counter programming to SF]

2) Winner of Hendo / Marquardt v. Silva; Belfort v. X [Late February, Early March '10]

3) If Silva and Belfort win: Title Fight June 2010.

Im still very sceptical of Vitor Belfort. Hes got letal hands but never seems to know how to win drawn out fights. That maybe just down to the fact that he was carrying too much muscle and gassed out too quickly. But theres still a big question mark over him.
Vitor can beat Franklin but he needs to dictate the fight and release his hands at every opportunity against Franklin. I hope he wins but Franklin is a very good fighter. This fight is very interesting due to the fact we have a proven figher in the form of Franklin who faces Belfort who is a fighter who has great potential but has dissapointed us on many occassions.

i'd love to see it happen but I bet rich takes vitor handily. I see it being pretty even on the feet, but rich has better wrestling and if it goes to the ground I see vitor getting punched in the face. for a BJJ blackbelt he has a terrible defensive guard and rarely submits anyone.

however, supposing vitor does win, i'd like to see him against silva, simply because there aren't a lot of challengers at 185 right now that silva hasn't already demolished. and vitor is a big name with oldskool fans, and extremely marketable as a good-looking powerpuncher, so i think it would sell well.

Franklin is my favorite fighter, but beating him won't get you a title shot.

perhaps not by itself, but it's probably the biggest step someone could take in their first fight returning to the UFC. If Randy can walk into HW and get a title shot I don't think it's impossible for Vitor to get one by beating the previous champ of the division. It really comes down to marketing and I think Vitor is extremely marketable. Women want him, men want to be him.

I wouldn't be totally surprised, in fact I half expect him to win. Although its probably closer to 35 to 65ish in rich's favor.

Vitor will win...I see both these guys in mirror images of themselves.. they both like to stand & trade...not known for excelling on the ground even though they both have acceptional solid ground games... And they both don't like pressure from their opponents as their kyptonites.... so it is why I'm giving the edge to Vitor.. Vitor is more aggressive & faster...once he finds that opening...Ace is a done.... Ace can only win via decision if he can keep Vitor at bay throughout the whole fight..which I think would make the fight not as exciting.. I wanna see someone get finished...
