Fine Excessive Showboating To Further Legitimize...

the sport.

The only thing that really disgusts me about the UFC is the pro-wrestling style antics of some of the fighters. Not only does it degrade the sport and turn it into a ridiculous laughable spectacle, it also attracts the wrong kind of fans. Then when the fan base is a bunch of screaming idiots the big guys in charge will cater to them because that's where the money is. Before you know it you have a league full of guys who put on a big show but lack real talent.

The UFC should take a play from the book of the best run sports league of all time, the NFL. They should fine fighters whose antics are over the top and an embarrassment to the sport. I'm not talking about a little smack talk before the fight, that's fine...I'm talking about the octagon dances and the hawking of defamatory T-shirts after the fights, etc...that stuff is lame, un-amusing to anyone over 16 or with a IQ over 60 and it makes the UFC look more and more like the WWE.

Feel free to fully agree with me.

One thing you need to remember about the UFC fan base is that a majority of the fans think its some fight to the death like an Ancient Rome battle between two guys. Not too many know that it's evolved and people actually want to apply science, technique and skill to their fights and that can easily disinterest the simple minded. My brother is one of those people!

I get it excited when I see a dude on the bottom and he spins out or rolls out of it to get up or on top. Where as my brother is like, "oh their gay, they look like their ****ing". Then he say's "they need to stand up and get'r done!".

See what I mean?

I disagree.

I loved Tito's infamous shirt about Guy Mezger. That was hilarious.
But Daniel Puder's shirt about Angle is pretty lame, IMO.

The NBA's dress code and the No Fun League's clamping down on excessive celebration takes some of the emotion out of the game.

If guys want to make an @ss out of themselves, by all means go right ahead.

I havent seen anything over the top. I would love for you to give some examples. I don't think the UFC should suck the personalities out of it's fighters that would be boring. You watch fights because you love the fighter or you hate the fighter and you need guys that are loved and guys that are hated. It makes for better fights. A lot of people are watching the Tito vs Chuck fight because they want to see Tito get KTFO.

I guess I really don't see the problem, after beating a guy it is just a capper that says tonight I was better then you. Granted some of it gets out of hand but generally I think it is kept in check well enough.

I agree 100%

According to the original post in this thread, I must be under 16 and have a 60 IQ or less. I enjoy the extra stuff. Sure, Tito's little grave digging routine is old, but nothing wrong with it. Hwo about what GSP won the title? Maybe they should have had him tone down his excitement after the first 15 seconds of him winning. That way the ignorant fans wouldn't get as pumped up about him winning. Then you talk about the shirts. I don't pay too much attention to the shirts, but aren't damn near every one of them just a sponsor shirt anyway? What is wrong with that? No different than any other sport with sponsors

you can't compare Tito's grave digging routine after beating Shamrock to GSP's title win.

If you're gonna talk about excessive celebrations, talk about Kenny Florian. Well, maybe not technically "excessive". But he rubs it right in his opponent's face, and it's just lame. lol Looks like a tool.

The thing of it is...UFC needs to reach bigger audiences. And that benefits the fans like you and I because we get to see more fights because of a bigger budget. But we have to put up with some b*llsh*t...Which to me is worth it.

Not to mention I actually like it...And after seeing some of the Pride & K-1 entrances, I think UFC smack talk is very tame.

But yea, alot of those fans wouldn't appreciate watching Dan Severn vs Royce Gracie, but then they'd see a fight like last nights Sanchez vs. Riggs and forget all about it.

If your a low key fan, you'd watch the smaller shows not the big stuff tailored to suit Everyone.
