First off....nice post, well written....
Second of all.... Joe Riggs and Diego both suck....I'd throw a party if Joe Riggs left the UFC, Diego is good but he's not that good. I feel he's been fighting horrible opponents....Matt Hughes should be a good fight for him.

Come on man, you cannot be serious. Diego is about as electrifying a fighter as you will ever see under 205. He has some of the most dynamic & consistently aggressive ground n pound in the game, and his standup is obviously stronger than anyone gave him credit for. Matt Hughes a good fight for Diego? Meh, I think Penn v Sanchez could be fight of the year if Penn was in shape for it, Hughes just isnt that exciting.

Riggs has been given multipal oppertunities to show his talent but has failed.
The UFC matched him up against Jason Von flue in the hopes it would build confidence for Riggs. He has faced and been beaten by just about all the fighters that are considerd threats to the WW Title. Riggs has been considerd a measuring stick in the WW divison but it looks like even that Title has been lost. With all the experience and knowlege Riggs posseses in MMA it seems when he steps in the cage he is lost. I have no doubt Riggs could be succesful against fighters from smaller organizations with less skills. This may be where Riggs ends up in the near future. I would have liked to see a more competetive fight for Diego. While his win was impressive he did not get the work that Riggs was supposed to offer. I believe we may have seen the last of Joe Riggs in the UFC unless something drastic occures in the future. This seems very unlikely considering all the oppertunities he has let slip away.
Should Riggs be fighting in the UFC after this performance.

I think the only reason Riggs has stayed in the UFC is because he is an exciting fighter, I will give him that and he is well connected with good trainers and insiders in the UFC. Beyond that, he is clearly a "B" level fighter ... I can't believe some people were picking him over Diego, you could see that loss coming a mile away, although I didn't think Diego would KO him. He probably is more suited to another fighting organization - I can't remember the name, but it's where Frank Trigg just won the championship from Jason Mayhem Miller - maybe something like that might be a bit better for him ... he has clearly been unable to beat anyone significant

Hughes WOULD be a good test and people really need to stop dissing "the most dominant welter wieght of all time" and give him the respect he deserves.
Whether you like hughes or not he would clearly test if Diego was the real deal or not.

So, Karo & Nick Diaz are "horrible opponents"? Both are really good WW's, who'd give anyone a tough time. Diego is pretty damn good actually.
As for Riggs, I like him, but I feel he needs to go back to the B-shows to prove himself again. Dana needs to understand that Riggs will never EVER be a top fighter. As much as Dana wants him to be, it just will never happen. Riggs can't perform when he needs to. It's almost like he doubts his abilities before he fights.
