I'm just thinking out loud here... What if Dana, knowing that this movie bullshit is going to mess up the timing of the Evans V. Rampage fight, decided to use it to his advantage and put us all on ice. They make up this whole "retirement" thing to build drama and attention for the fight. What if all of this drama is fabricated to buy some time and to keep it relevant and on our minds.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is what's up, I'm just throwing it out there because I wouldn't put it past Dana the fight promoter. Lets face it, if (or when) Dana makes this fight, it could be the biggest ever if they work us up to frenzy.

Might it be, or have I just drank too much of this cheap whiskey?

If this is true they are going about it the wrong way. The bitching between Rampage and Dana is lame.

I don't think this is too far fetched at all. I believed it was the case when Randy 'retired'. Next thing you knew he was fighting Brock Lesnar which I had predicted months earlier.

All in all it's a business and these kind of little soap operas actually do suck people in and create more excitement which makes more revenue

In the first episode, Dana coming in and saying "don't get in a fight you guys, sheesh" seemed a little contrived.

I don't doubt that Rampage and Rashad don't like each other...in Rampage's mind, he's fought a who's who of guys over his career, and Rashad went through TUF and "lucked out" til he fought Machida and got shown up.

I would LOVE to see this fight, but it seems like it won't happen. Hollywood pays great, even for crummy roles

PS. I would pick Rampage just cause of his (seeming) ruggedness.

It could make a lot of sense, especially since the news broke, we can see them taking on "roles" of a sort. Rampage playing as a victim, Rashad playing as the good guy (winning him over to some much needed fans), and Dana playing the evil master of it all. It all makes sense.. and dare I say.. haven't we seen this type of play in WWE time and time again whenever they want to convert someone from the dark side to the good side?

When Mir supposedly got injured before the Lesnar fight scheduled for UFC98, was that injury ever confirmed? All seemed a very convenient way to push the event to UFC100.

The combination of Dana, Rampage and Evans is like an evil comic book trio of dastardly baddies. All 3 are sneeky dirty and very funny bastards.

Probably not true, but I choose to believe anyway. Far more exciting.

I can see the OP's point that we could all be in on the fix. In my opinion, there is a very SMALL beef between Dana and Rampage, nothing serious enough to have him retire. As we've seen with Tito, and Randy...Anytime there is a gripe with Dana they "leave permanently" but we see them back a year later....Same thing should happen here

I see some of you are posting "This isn't the WWE". Yeh, I understand, you don't like fake sports, but what the hell is wrong with "storylines"? That is one of the main reasons, why you wait for fights (side-by-side with the "Name vs. Name" waiting). Sure, you don't have to create major storylines like in wrestling, but whats wrong with some "Dana-White-told-me-so" smack talk or something? Especially, if you don't know about it - It really gets you more in the fight.

This whole thing smells like WWE manufactured drama. Is dana white getting so money hungry that he resorts to this bullshit to bring in more fans? That son of a b.......

Cut the male soap opra shit. Lets see 2 evenly matched fighters go at it in a cage.

Then, after months of shit-talking, we finally get the grudge match of the year--becoming the most lucrative non-title fight in MMA history.
I don't think Rampage has anything left to do to 'legitimize' himself, he's been proving himself for years. I also can't see how this could even be considered the most lucrative non-title fight in MMA history...

Don't get me wrong, it'll be huge if it happens, but Ortiz-Shamrock/Liddell had a story behind it. This si just two guys who don't like each other. I don't think it'll fall to the levels of Hughes-Serra (worthless), but it won't be anywhere near as big as some of the super fights we've seen. GSP-Silva or Machida-Silva, if either of them happen, they likely won't be for a title...

So….that single situation where Rashad jumped in Page’s face after the Jardine fight caused all this drama? Didn’t Rashad say that the UFC told him to do that?

If that’s the case then there’s definitely some puppetry going on here that we all fell hook, line and sinker to. Something about this season, their interactions with each other and how it all came about sounds a little fishy to me..
And now Rampage is retiring after exclaiming:” I want my belt baaaaack”! plus with all the tension built up b/w him and Rashad? Page is just gonna leave it like that?

Sounds like horse jizz to me.
