Any chance we're being played by Dana, Rampage and Rashad?
Any chance we're being played by Dana, Rampage and Rashad?
I'm just thinking out loud here... What if Dana, knowing that this movie bullshit is going to mess up the timing of the Evans V. Rampage fight, decided to use it to his advantage and put us all on ice. They make up this whole "retirement" thing to build drama and attention for the fight. What if all of this drama is fabricated to buy some time and to keep it relevant and on our minds.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is what's up, I'm just throwing it out there because I wouldn't put it past Dana the fight promoter. Lets face it, if (or when) Dana makes this fight, it could be the biggest ever if they work us up to frenzy.
Might it be, or have I just drank too much of this cheap whiskey?

I can see what you are saying for sure. I hopes this isnt the case. All I know Rampage better get his shit together and get back in the cage.

This would make a lot more sense if it was closer to the end of the season, to set up a will they / won't they fight.
Could be happening here too. Hopefully you're right.

I agree with that. I just heard from someone that rampage was saying that he was done fighting and was about to retire. In my opinion, I think thats dumb because he's only 30 yrs old, and I dont even think he's reached his prime yet. It would be a shame for him to quit fighting for good just because of a movie.

Ahahaah, I ******* love this...ignore my intense intake of vodka...I thinks you might be right. Never thought about it but Rampage, Dana and Rashad are smart dudes, they know what will get viewers to watch. This isn't so far fetched....honestly, it would be genius for them to do this. Now I honestly believe, because of you handsome Curly that Rampage will be back. It makes more sense than anything else. God, have my children dude.

This ain't the WWE. If Dana did this and people found out, he'd become the laughing stock of sports. A better scenario to hope for is that Rampage and Dana make up after filming is done and Rashad gets a few wins under his belt at 185/205 to legitimize himself. Then, after months of shit-talking, we finally get the grudge match of the year--becoming the most lucrative non-title fight in MMA history.

if they think rampage announcing his retirement right now was a great marketing strategy, then i must be in the minority. honestly, i was interested in the show for the hype between the rampage/rashad fight and for kimbo and now its just kimbo so if kimbo loses next week theres no reason to watch the show. i really don't care to see the smack talk between rampage and rashad now since the fight is off

This isn't the case at all. Most casual fans probably haven't even really heard of the news yet. It's really only the hardcore fans that hear about this day-to-day news.
Not to mention, as someone else said, this isn't the WWE. They're not using ploys like that to garner additional interest in their fights. At this rate you guys will be talking about a triple threat match between Rashad, Rampage, and Kimbo.
