Buentello’s UFC Deal Official, Agrees to Face Duffee at UFC 107
Friday, September 25, 2009
by Greg Savage (greg@sherdog.com)

Long-rumored to be returning to the UFC, heavyweight Paul Buentello informed Sherdog.com Friday that the deal is now official. “The Head Hunter” signed a three-fight extension to the one-fight Affliction deal the UFC picked up when the apparel company folded its fight operations earlier this summer.

Buentello (27-10) also said he has verbally agreed to face American Top Team heavyweight Todd Duffee at UFC 107 in Memphis Dec. 12. He expects to have a bout agreement for the fight some time this weekend.

The former UFC heavyweight title challenger has racked up a 12-2 record over the past six years, dropping only title matches against Andrei Arlovski (UFC) and Alistair Overeem (Strikeforce) over that time span.

“I am looking forward to being back in the UFC and can’t wait to put on some entertaining fights for the fans,” said the outgoing Texan. “I don’t care who I fight. I just want to go out and show the fans I belong in the UFC.”

Nice, I guess we'll find out now if Duffee is legit.

Love watching Buentello, I think he's quite a force. Such a good technical boxer.

I hope he really schools Duffee, I think he's good at showing up young, super athletic fighters.

Won't be surprised if Duffee catches him for a TKO near the second round, though.

Buentello won't become Heavyweight champ but he will be a solid addition and is always fantastic to watch.

Does he belong in the UFC? F**k yeah.

Good stuff, he will be a decent gatekeeper. If you can face the consequences, then you will be at the top of the HW division.

Although Duffee has a great camp to back him up for preparations in this fight & is still young, atheltic, & super hungry. It's not like he knocked off some legit contender in his last fight, Hague was garbage. And he caught hague with a wild engaging punch also. Buentello would've displayed a technically sound standup clinic against Hague for a clean KO. The only way I see Duffee winning is by "puncher's chance"... The head hunter will school this cocky kid back to preschool... I see Duffee getting picked apart for a KO..

I hate to say this, but Duffee is gonna walk through Buentello. Not that I don't respect the burritomeister, but there he won't be able to handle Duffee's strength, speed, and youth.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

This^^^^^

Duffee will be too big for Buentello to handle. He may not be as technically good of a striker as Buentello but he'll make up for that with his power and size. I expect him to win via GnP.
