RUMOR: Nogueira To Fight Gonzaga @ 107

"According to Luiz Aves, Nogueira’s Muay Thai coach, this fight can happen. "It’s not 100% yet, but Rodrigo might fight in December. When I was in the US, I heard some rumors that he could face Napão (Gonzaga)… It’s not right yet, but I heard that he could fight him, then would move forward to the title. I think, by the middle of 2010, we’ll fight for the title again"."

Wow I wonder what the fights on the main card will be:

Champ B.J. Penn vs. Diego Sanchez (for lightweight title)
Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida
Cheick Kongo vs. Frank Mir
Thiago Alves vs. Paulo Thiago
Paul Buentello vs. Todd Duffee
Alan Belcher vs. Wilson Gouveia
Houston Alexander vs. TBA (Kimbo??)
Kevin Burns vs. T.J. Grant
Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Gabriel Gonzaga

As for the fight, I was not convinced with Nog's performance against Randy. But Nog is hard to finish. Hard to predict.

Horrible matchup for Nog. Gonzaga is stronger, has more power, has just as good hands as Nog, can take a heavy punch himself, and has great BJJ.

Gonzaga via TKO in the 3rd.

Jack Johnson: Boxing's greatest Heavyweight champion.

I don't see Nog being finished again. Gonzaga may win a decision, but he's not finishing Nog.

Fedor, Mir, Lytle, Serra, Hendo, Chuck, Minowaman, Maynard, Forrest, Hunt
Pickett, Cerrone, Matt Brown, Bisping, Weidman, Barnett, Lawler

It's interesting because Big Nog was looking like being lined up to face the winner of Lesnar V Carwin, but Gonzaga is far from an easy fight in the mean time and may well be a spanner in the works.

It'll be a good test though to see if Nogueira really has still got it. Gabe will certainly test his chin better than Couture did.

Overall I'm quite intrigued by this one.

Not sure about this one. If it stays standing , i see Gonzaga being able to land one of his head kicks. Dude is a big and has a ton of power behind his kicks. However if it goes to the ground , i can see Nog winning this fight.

Hard to say, Nog would have to finish it in spectacular fashion. If Gabe takes it to the ground he could LnP a UD... Interesting match-up style wise. Tough call.
