Mir is not assessing a possible fight with Anderson properly . . .. To bully someone using simply power/strength, wrestling lends itself to that very well, being able to take someone down and doing damage. The approach Lesnar took to Mir, and Hughes used to do, as well as SEan Sherk. Of course power and strength is not a bad thing to have anywhere, but I think it is most advantagous in ground and pound, and in the clinch . . ..
Silva has more skill in the clinch, and Mir isn't famous for his takedowns. Plus, Anderson has a speed and accuracy advantage on the feet, which I believe can mostly negate Mir's "strength" advantage. Anderson isn't really known for his takedown defense, but Mir thinking he could get past Anderson's striking or just eat one on the way in to accomplish a takedown could end bad for him.
