Jamie Varner: "The fans are really fickle. It's like they all kind of turned on me"
lol, i personally don't care for Varner and never really have, so i was somewhat amused when the San Antonio crowd booed him the entire time he was talking. during the post-fight conference he seemed pretty bitter. anyone else notice that?
quotes from conference: Jamie Varner responds to barrage of boos he received at WEC 43

That's good. I thought it was just me that didn't like Varner much.

Once I saw the Cerrone Varner fight I lost respect for him as a fighter.

No Jamie, the fans never "turned on you." Fans like myself never liked you to begin with. For reasons like: you literally ran away from Hermes Franca after being rocked and also dropping your mouthpiece to get a timeout, Calling a timeout midfight because you dropped your mouthpiece after getting rocked, quitting a fight against Cerrone not because you were injured with an illegal blow, but knowing you had the fight in the bag and didn't want to get knocked out in round 5 (said he had double vision but only had a broken foot at the end of the fight)
Not only that but he did one of the stupidest post-fight celebrations I've ever seen after beating Jason Gilliam.

Yeah, when I saw he had all of the theatrics for his celebration planned out, that was where I started to dislike him.

I think his comment was directed at me. I loved that he manhandled Razor Rob and showed him to be an average fighter AND then I turned on him in the Cerrone fight.
He took an easy way out of the fight when Cerrone was making small gains and then he was fine giving a celebratory interview...no couthe (sp?), he's a d-bag.

I respect his skills as a fighter. I dont know how much damage that knee did in the Cerrone fight, id like to give him the benefit of the doubt. I dont understand why he would think he needed a way out of that fight, he was clearly winning every round. Ill reserve judgement until i see him defend against Henderson. If Varner comes to fight i dont see anyway the Henderson can possibly win that match. Cant wait either way.

I strongly feel like Cerrone was turning it way up, and Varner just didn't have it in him to continue. He took a coward's way out in my opinion.

If you're speaking about what he did at WEC43: he walked into the cage and was boo'd by the crowd and then called Cerrone out saying "I don't like you but I respect you. I really wanted to fight you too." or something like that.
After the Gilliam fight he choked the guy out cold and then got up, did like a dirty bird/chicken wing dance, then he flopped to the ground with his hands up like he was asleep, and finally capped it off with the worm.
