I don't think Paulo has a prayer against Alves but I am real excited to watch Alves get back in the Octagon.

I think besides GSP, Alves is a step above the competition in the WW division

GSP > Fitch > Alves > Swick > rest of WW

Basically if GSP for some reason retired we'd have Fitch carrying that belt for quite a while even if Swick and Kos would suddenly fight him for it. Sadly for Fitch GSP does everything he does, but better. So while he is extremely versatile and talented he may not ever get rewarded for it with a belt because of GSP.

Do you really consider Swick the number 3 WW in the UFC? Maybe contendership wise, but probably not talent wise. I would pick Kos against Swick, Kampmann (still) against Swick, Condit against Swick, Hardy will be close and Johnson would be interesting; I would still go probably go with Johnson for the upset though.

Swick is a legit contender, but talent wise, is barely top 5.

yeah alves vs fitch would be a great fight but i think fitch could take him. the man took a beating at the hands of gsp but was still game. nothing against alves though that man is also a beast, i just think fitch could take him.

I know it's been said before but Paulo Thiago is getting the roughest UFC path I've ever seen. He comes right in to the UFC and gets back to back to back fights against top 10 guys. Either they really dislike him or they really respect him. I have to say after the Kos fight I thought maybe he was a fluke, but after the Fitch fight he looks pretty legit. I don't think he'll beat Alves, but I think he's def got the skills and the heart to be in the top 10.
