Why does everyone here get so defensive when any kind of racial discrimination is raised. Can't we just acknowledge Filho's opinion and look at the evidence to see if it's justified?
I'd say Filho has a point so far as American fighters get a sweeter deal because Dana knows what sells and America is still the biggest market for UFC. Guys like Franklin, Forrest Griffin, Couture and Lidell have always been big draws in America and have been afforded preferential treatment over the years accordingly. You can't really refute that.
Filho's argument about foreigners more often being on the bad end of unusual match-ups and harsh treatment also holds weight. Thales Leites is a good example:
1. Beat a highly ranked Marquardt.
2. Then matched up against Goran Reljic who withdrew and was replaced by McFedries, another dangerous striker. Leites won well but in a meaningless fight.
3. Thrown to the wolves against Silva. Terrible matchup and was merely fodder for a "knockout of the night".
4. Chased Sakara for three rounds and somehow lost a decision. Another awful matchup and a meaningless fight.
5. Cut from the UFC.

However the UFC is far from a hotbed of racism and hate. If you have the talent you can get the UFC belt regardless of your race or origin.

OK, that's all well and good but your entire post is meaningless unless you personally believe that Dana and Joe Silva did that to Thales simply because he was Brazilian. Which you obviously don't because of that last part of your post...so I'm just trying to figure out why you're trying to defend such idiotic statements.

Everyone just called Paulo an idiot. Which he clearly is from what he has shown us for the last few years. Not a big deal, nobody is getting uppity because race was involved...except you I guess

At the heart of the issue is economic discrimination. Well known fighters, usually Americans, get favorable treatment because they are the cash cows of the company. Foreigners get raw deals because they are relatively expendable.
I suppose Zuffa is just trying to make the most money but from Filho's perspective I can understand how it would appear racist.

Wow, Filho is a freaking jack ass!

This got me thinking of how very wrong he is though. Other than the LW division which also has some Brazilian talent I think you could argue that to a certain degree they are the top of the clas.

WW - Last title contender, Thiago Alves.. and they were clearly working on a push for Paulo Thiago before Fitch derailed him.

MW - Brazillion Champion, last title contender Brazillian. Most recent "number 1 contenders match" - Marquart Vs. Maia (Brazil)

LHW - Champion from Brazil... I'll admit here that other than Thiago Silva this is a USA dominated division. But look who's on top.

HW - Nog, enough said... but I'll also add they are clearly pushing Dos Santos as a legit contender.

So yeah Paulo you're right... clearly no love the Brazillion fighters.

Again, what a jackass.

If you're serious you must have forgotten that Minotauro was the interm heavyweight champ not too long ago. Also, Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida are champions of their respective weight classes and the number 1 contenders for both are Brazillians too. (Up until Anderson had elbow surgery and the fight has since been dropped)

Its kind of stuipd for Filho to make these accusations, considering that he was champion in the WEC for the longest time and held onto it for as long as he could until the division was dissolved.

I'm assuming you're joking though, so don't take it as a post directed at you. Paulo is known for saying/doing some really stupid stuff.

Err... Always thought Anderson Silva was Swedish, Lyoto is CLEARLY japanese and Minotauro is just greek.

You all know we only got these typical Americans such as George st'pierre and BJ Penn.

And to end your mindboggle, yes I was sarcastic mate.

Paulo Filho doesn't realize that Asians have it worse.

Gono isn't even allowed to entertain on the main card. That IS a crime in Japan.

I had a Sherdog account kind of like that. But after I while I couldn't bring myself to read those threads, let alone post in them.

The UFC advertises their middleweight champion as the number one pound for pound fighter in the world, and he happens to be Brazilian.

Psalm 30:5 "For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."

Top 3 Favorite Fighters
1. Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell
2. Glover Teixeira
3. Demian Maia
