Kid Shogun's got mad skills.

This is either Shogun's 'coming out' fight or a frightening consolidation of power by King Lyoto.

I am rooting for Shogun for sure he seems like a cool dude and his fighting style is very entertaining plus he was paying like $4.60 just to win!
But got a lot of love for Machida as well and pretty sure he will win.

I'm a Shogun fan, so clearly want him to win, but I actually played out the UFC 104 event on WMMA2 last night, and the Shogun-Machida fight was epic. If the actual fight is anything like the one on my WMMA game then I'll be delighted.

Basically, Machida dominated the stand-up, stopped any of Shogun's takedown attempts for the entirity of the first 4 rounds. Rua barely got a punch of any note in for the whole 4 rounds. Then, at the start of the 5th, Machida changed his gameplan, and went for a takedown, probably in order to get Shogun to the ground, and hold him there to take out the round and the fight.

Shogun managed to counter it though, and lock in his Muay Thai clinch, and just under 2 minutes into the 5th and final round Shogun connected with a massive knee knocking Machida out cold. Now that'd be an ending to the fight I'd love to see. Get to see Machida's elusiveness and striking ability for the first 4 rounds and then a Shogun big knee knockout to win him the fight.

The fight won't go like that though. Machida will pick Shogun apart, but he'll finish him in the 2nd, either by straight knockout or TKO. Would be nice to see my WMMA2 fight come true though =D

NO! i hope machida wins!!!
But i have a biased opinion because shogun knocked out chuck and i am just being bitter.

actually if shogun wins then maybe anderson silva will get more involved with the LHW division but if Machida wins maybe Anderson will be more likely to fight Vitor or the winner of Nate/Hendo sooner.

Guess i cant be that bitter towards shogun, knocking chuck out isnt exactly much to talk about anymore.

I'm rooting for Shogun but like most people I see Machida more than likely coming away with the win. I hope I'm wrong.

I really don't want Shogun to win. Although he is an awesome fighter and I love to watch him compete, he did nothing to earn this title shot in the first place, and does not deserve the belt IMO. I mean, I guess if he goes out there and just plain out beats Machida, then ya, he deserves it, but I don't want to see some lame fluke KO or something.

That seems to be the way it goes in the UFC though. Lesnar didn't deserve his title shot, but he had the name value and the fact he's quite entertaining to watch. Carwin doesn't deserve his title shot but he's entertaining to watch. Belfort doesn't deserve a shot at Anderson Silva but he's exciting to watch; and it's the same with Shogun. Plus the fact there's really no-one else, all the other guys that could be considered for a title shot are busy or lost a couple of fights.

Anderson Silva didnt even earn a title shot.

But if you look at the LHW division nobody else has actually strung together any kind of winning streak besides Rampage who cant fight for obvious reasons. Now that being said i dont think beating a washed up mark coleman and a past his prime chuck liddell warrants a shot at the LHW title. But i dont think anyone really deserved it yet.
