True he is a beast! Hughes takedowns are good but he doesn't really set them up or get them on good people....sherks are just amazingly powerful and drives through the opponent. I haven't seen much of gsp's fights...so idk about his takedowns being the best....Matt hamil is also just a beast when he gets in. i remember he had the single and THREW the dude down! and i didn't put tito because it only allowed 5 options

I'm not convinced about Hamil. In practice he was able to take those guys down easily, but it's hard to gauge as his takedown skills haven't been tested, IMO, against an upper echelon fighter.

Rashad boxes more than he wrestles so I can't go with him either.

Koschek is very aggressive with his double leg. His hands are improving so I'll look for him to set his take downs up using his hands as a distraction just before he shoots.

Karo impresses me with his use of judo throws. The way he flipped Sanchez was a thing of beauty.

All the guys mentioned have good take downs, but I'll go with Koschek as I see room to embellish on good takedown skills he has right now.

Yeah I would have voted for Karo if he was on the list. His judo throws are sick! But I think kos has the highest percentage of successful take downs.

I don’t think St. Pierre belongs on this list. While he can hold his own against wrestlers and has pretty decent takedowns, I don’t think he has the explosive power behind his takedowns that guys like Koscheck and Sherk do, who are superior wrestlers. I’m sure GSP has the power and skill behind him to do it, but his takedowns aren’t anywhere near being the best yet.

Sure. Judo and Greco-Roman wrestling are both upperbody oriented in takedown techniques.

Much like the old "gung-fu" movies, this sport is rich in "individual" styles. The mixtues of various techniques to create these styles fascinate me to no end.

Karo is one such fighter who is innovative in his approach to fighting as is Fedor who makes good use of his long arms to effectively gnp guys. Even ones as tall as Nog.
