This is my first one, personally, but set us straight. Why is cutting 50 lbs. a fight a good idea? Healthy? Sustainable?

Anthony Johnson is also a human being and the human body does not like dehydration. That's why we get this feeling some people call 'thirst'.

AJ's mentally strong he will overcome his 'thirst feeling' and be prepared to fight or wrestle just like he always has the past 10 years or so.
It's not like this is his first time cutting weight, he knows what he's doing and knows how much his body can handle, its called "preparation" and as a professional mma fighter i'm sure he and his trainers have it under control.

not at all, but like shatterproof said earlier all of the mma docs/quaks have to put their 2cents in every time a new weight cutting thread appears and its getting a little redundant.

true that. Seems like / as usual a lot of 'experts' on what everyone else should do with their own damn bodies. Dropping that kind of weight may be a viable topic of interest but they are grown ass men fellas, they don't require nannies lamenting over their health for them.

This is the first "weight cut" thread I've participated in. In fact it's the first one I've seen. But even if they're common, why would you care?

Huh? You think discussion of whether dropping 50 lbs. per fight is a good strategy is being nannies? Wow! So I guess any discussion of strategy would be off limits. Hmmm. Does this go for all discussion of strategy, or is only weight cutting off limits? I gotta get this straight.

Have you not read the last few posts?? I care because some people on this forum just need to realize that they don't know squat about cutting weight but they'll be the first ones to post a reply in a weight cutting discussion saying how its not healthy and how they won't have the stamina to last a 3 round fight.

So enlighten us already. What's the cut off for healthy cutting. Is 75 too much?

Cuz, I'm wondering if this was an issue for Alverez with GSP.

Come on man, if you got the squat share it.

what i dont 'care' to do is get into a pointless debate with someone over the imaginary health of another grown ass man, hence why i didn't bother responding to you in the first place. But since you're getting your vag in a twist over it... allow me to suggest that you re-read my post because my opinions were quite clear:

Dropping Weight = viable topic of interest.
Your tedious and uninformed opinion on the imaginary health of a grown ass man = irrelevant.

And yes, rep'd for being a dick over nothing. suck it.
