Diego

On his post-fight interview, he said, "Bring on Matt Hughes baby, ya know, I hope Matt Hughes wants to stand with me like he did with GSP, if he does, it'll get ugly."

Now, I have respect for Diego, but I don't think he should try to compare his stand-up to GSP's.

I agree, I'm startin' get the feeling that diego's ego is gonna explode before to long. Don't get get me wrong I like him and he puts on a good show, I just can't stand an ego maniac.

Let's give the young man a little time. He had just come off an impressive win and fighters do sometimes say things during those adrenaline highs that will have them rethinking their statements later on.

Confidence (maybe not ego) is probably what drove him to say that more than anything. And that's an ingredient that's necessary for one to be successful.

BTW, I don't think his hands are better than GSP. But there is room for him to improve so we'll see.

Well said, alot of the fighters say things in the heat of a moment that might not make sense, but I do think Diego definitley could stand with Hughes, now on the ground it's going to be a challenge.

Standing with Hughes, IMO, is nothing special nor particularly difficult to do. Diego, prior to his fight with Karo, showed me little with his hands. Now he has improved but still needs more polish on chin protection and setting his shots up.

I don't know if anyone saw it, but Riggs caught him at the same time Riggs himself was caught putting him down. What made Diego's punch more effective is his full weight being behind his hook, while Riggs was doing a NO-NO in pulling back while firing a punch all in one motion. Diego can't **** around getting touched like that while initiating his offense because if Riggs had turned his shot over we may have seen a double knockdown and a different result.

I really hope he catches that NOW and makes the necessary adjustments to set his punches up better.

Supposedly Rigg's punch caught Diego in the eye, that's why he was affected like that.

Yes I know WHY he was affected. What I'm pointing out is that Sanchez was caught at the same time and that he must improve SETTING HIS SHOTS UP by creating openings. Not just launching an aggressive attack like he did when he and Riggs traded those right hooks.

Yeah, Hughes and GSP would both murder Diego.
An ego maniac is never a good thing, and to be honest I don't even know why he thinks he should have an ego.
I mean, he is unbeaten and thats awesome, but three of his UFC wins were decision wins and he still has a long way to go.

I meant, supposedly Diego was poked...I think.
