Machida's dad says he is not on Anderson's level.
"Our son is not making a show yet because, to make a show, you have to be really superior. In his last two fights, he has given a great show. Now, he understands he’s strong. I love Anderson Silva’s fights because he’s an artist inside the Octagon. A lot of people don’t like it because they think he wants to play and have fun. I don’t see it that way. I see him as a showman who’s very strong. Deep in his heart, he knows he can finish the fight when he wants. Anderson was born like that. Lyoto is different. He wasn’t born like that, but as he trains more, trusts his karate and believes in his style, he’s getting more confident and is giving a better performance each time out."

I think this is true. Silva has shown absolute dominance in his performances and in his title defenses.
Lyoto is young though. He has time. Let's see how he fares against Rua.

not exactly a revelation imo, anybody paying attention knows Anderson is much more of a killer and much more confident in his style, whereas Machida had some fights where he didnt finish guys he should finish.
I just dont see anybody going the distance with Silva, anytime soon, but i could see Machida having to sqweak out UD wins in the near future (and im talking Saturday).

So did A. Silva.
And he does not say he is not on Anderson Silva's level. He's just saying he's not fighting with as much showmanship as A. Silva is.

But by saying Anderson is a natural and Lyoto is a hard worker is implying that Anderson is on a higher level also because Anderson is "superior enough to make a show" and Lyoto is not.

IMO, being a natural does not necessarily make you better than the hard worker. Anderson wasn't always on the top of the pile either. What I think is the true tale of the tape is when we can compare them at the end of their careers, what they accomplished, what the overcame and how dominant the were in their prime.

A perfect example of hard work > natural ability is GSP vs. Penn. Natural Ability didn't get BJ very far in their last outing. I'm not saying Machida would beat Silva but still a fair comparison.

Good point.
I really doubt that Machida could beat Anderson. I don't think Machida could last an entire fight with Silva to be truthful.

what i get from it is that Machidas dad realizes Anderson is on such a level, with such natural gifts and instincts, that he LITERALLY toys with opponents... even world class ones.... look at his face after the 1st Hendo round... he came out liek OK, thats enuff, time to stop this... he has that gift, he can finish a fight when he wants, look how he toyed with former champions. The reason he didnt finish Lietes is because he saw the kid was scared and running away, if you dont think he could have finished it anytime he wanted, your misleading yourself, he is so good he wants to put on a show, he wants to show what an entirely different level he is on, Machida has the potential to be there one day, but i dont see that killer instinct or confidence in his abilitys to finish a fight whenever he wants, make it go whereever he wants like Silva has.
