I agree with the sentiment that Silva should stay at middleweight or go to heavyweight if he doesnt want the belt. I also agree that this whole man love, not wanting to fight your buddies makes the sport seem less professional. Individuals and teams in other sports dont refuse to compete against each other because of there friendship, they can separate there personal lives from there professional lives. When these guys refuse to face each other, it makes mma seem more like a fight then a contest. Most guys that face each other dont have any ill will towards each other. Its not like there getting into a fight on the street over some bullshit. This is supposed to be a professional sport and i was under the impression that most people that have anything to do with mixed martial arts wanted it to be treated like other professional sports. Oh well, just my take.

I just never understood this whole "Anderson is ducking Machida" argument. People were acting like Machida's been asked 10 times whether or not he'd fight AS and answered "yes I would" every time, when he hasn't even been asked once that question until in this interview.

Thanks God this video is putting this whole thing to rest.

because there was the sentiment going around that Anderson kept saying he wouldn't fight while machida was not saying anything on the matter while he knew the idea was out there. I guess the assumption was made that Anderson was afraid while Machida was waiting to be offered the fight. I got caught up on that assumption in one of the many threads around.

Machida wasn't saying anything on the matter simply because he was never asked, while Anderson was asked the question multiple times..

I don't mind. Both of these fighters have more than proven themselves as valuable to the UFC and deserve the courtesy of refusing this one fight.

I don't see them making a habit of it.

Also, the outcome of either one winning just doesn't seem worth it.

Anderson gets both belts and then retires, leaving both spots empty? Also ruining his friend Lyoto's flawless record?

Lyoto gets both belts and then can't make weight to defend them both? or he just defends his own belt, for no reason other than to possibly allow his own belt to be taken and his record be flawed by someone under his weight class... Anyway he gets both belts, and puts a loss on his near equally untouchable friend's record.


Just give them this one.
