I don't think a fight can be judged by a computer. Stats lie. In this case it may be right, it might not be. Also, who is in charge of recording those stats? A human, who may be biased or retarded, we just don't know.
Wow, Machida landed WAY more than 8 shots to Shogun's head. He landed 10 in one exchange, that's ridiculous
EDIT: I guess it's 14 total, but that's still outrageous. Every time Shogun threw that body kick he got caught in the face and as I said, he landed ~10 shots in one exchange (the one where Rogan was like "Durr I think shogun got tha bettar of dat wun, lets watch replayz." I counted that one because there was no way Shogun won it, Machida out struck him in it 10:1.)
Rua already won the decision so it will be even sweeter to see him beat Machida in their rematch... Not that Machida deserves it of course. He needs to fall back in line like everyone else before him: Rashad, Forrest, Thiago, Quinton, etc.
actually to be honest i thought that with all lyoto's honour etc he would hand the belt over to shogun in an epic sportsmanship moment, forever going down in the history of the UFC.
even if it wasnt valid, just the action in itself would have truly showed machida as a warrior of honour. I really did expect him to hand it over. It's been done before i think - (Although it may have been in a movie )
I just think its unfair because in a rematch i still think machida will win and thus yeah..i dunno...even being a lyoto fan this whole debarcle just makes me really sour. see above cecil peoples pic.
IMO, Shogun won the fight. However, the fight was scored by a ton of people as 48-47 for Shogun, meaning that one round difference puts Machida winning. With how much each fighter counter-punched the other, I'm not too upset by it.
This isn't really that big of a controversy IMO. If you leave a close fight in the hands of the judges, you leave yourself open for a bad decision.
90% of the polls i have seen everywhere give it to shogun by 49 - 46, not 48 47.
With most scoring shogun winning 4 out of 5 rounds, to have him actually only get scored winning TWO rounds does make it pretty controversial imo.
If i was at that event i would have gone even more mental; i can't imagine how many fights broke out when that decision was announced.
Actually, i dont think anybody in that entire arena apart from those 3 braindead judges actually thought machida was going to win.
And just to rub salt in the wound, shogun has his very first child on the way. He spent 4 months away from his pregnant wife to train for that fight, and now he misses out on not only the obvious prestige, but the deserved win bonus also.
It's been over 24hrs and i am still in utter disbelief. at first i 100% honestly thought they had just read the cards out wrong and would then correct themselves. (as they have done before)
i've watched that exchange a few times now and machida landed nothing clean, only a few glancing blows. however the counter right shogun threw was clean and it had power.
