for the record... Silva takes it.
Most likely it won't happen anytime soon, but when I read the words "muay thai battle" I could hardly sit down. I just hope it'd be a war, not a massacre by A. Silva.

to tell you all the truth i still dont believe Shogun or Machida are in A. Silva's leauge yet. They are both good, but more importantly they were a good match for eachother. Now even though they put on one of the most brilliant technical battles, thats still not to say some powerhouse could come in and brutalize either of them, or even someone with really good hands could knock either of them out. A knockout wasn't a big concern in their fight as we could see

I was a little bit gunshy about Shogun for this match (as was everyone else), but we're seeing the PRIDE Shogun now.

It seems he's completely past being unfamiliar with the Cage and the no stomping/soccer kicks rule. If this is the rebirth of the Pride Shogun, Silva would have his hands full and I'd judge that fight 50/50. If this was in the ring, with stomps and soccer kicks, I give this fight to Shogun convincingly.

This was a man who knocked out Overeem and Ricardo Arona in the same night. He beat Lil' Nog convincing. He massacred Rampage in the first round. He submitted Randleman, a world class Greco wrestler, in the first round.

What I'd love to see is Shogun destroy whoever wins Tito vs Griffin, then see a Shogun vs Machida rematch. If he takes the belt, then Silva vs Shogun. If he doesn't take the belt but the fight is super close, Shogun vs Silva. If he gets crushed in the rematch somehow, Shogun vs Rashad.

Just before Buffer announced Machida won, I was kinda hoping he'd announce Shogun so that we could get Shogun-Silva. What would have been bigger (not anymore) would have been if Machida destroyed Shogun (like he will next time) and defended the title twice more and both him and Silva agreed to a fight for Silva's retirement match (he could either go out losing to his friend and making Lyoto the best p4p or he could walk out with both belt and the greatest fighter ever). Too bad this ain't pro wrestling LOL.

I would love to see a Rampage/Shogun rematch. Before the decision was read I was wetting my pants thinking about a AS match-up. It had revenge written all over it. But then the decision came...

yeah totally... would make for a wicked matchup. They may both be MT but they are so different in their application of the art that it'd be really cool to see how things played out. i would imagine that Anderson's precision would win the day against Shogun's berserker style and force, but Shogun can't be completely counted out either -- especially after seeing him back in form.

Would be a wicked one.

Shogun v Rashad would be awesome too though. Rashad with something to prove and Shogun looking to solidify his place at the top of the food chain in the UFC. Probably end up a solid GnP/Wrestling vs BJJ match -- i dont see it staying up very long.

Agreed. It would be a sweetass re-match. Once Shogun finally gets the belt he deserves maybe it will happen
