Thiago Alves Injured, Out Of UFC 107

According to MMA Fanhouse, Thiago Alves has pulled out of his UFC 107 bout with Jon Fitch due to a torn posterior cruciate ligament. Alves was replacing Ricardo Almeida as an opponent for Fitch, as he pulled out due to an injury. It is not known who the UFC will try to match Fitch up with at this point. Here is the updated UFC 107 card, which takes place on December 12th from Memphis, Tennessee:

- Champ B.J. Penn vs. Diego Sanchez (for lightweight title)
- Cheick Kongo vs. Frank Mir
- Jon Fitch vs. TBA*
- Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida
- Paul Buentello vs. Todd Duffee

- Alan Belcher vs. Wilson Gouveia
- Shane Nelson vs. Matt Wiman
- Ricardo Funch vs. Johny Hendricks
- Lucio Linhares vs. Rousimar Palhares
- Edgar Garcia vs. DaMarques Johnson
- Kevin Burns vs. T.J. Grant

Actually there's now new reports that this is a false alarm. Someone from American Top Team posted on another forum saying that they had just spoke to Alves and that he is still fighting.

That update is now being reported by Bloody Elbow.

The original information has now been re-confirmed by mmaweekly!

It seems that Thiago Alves still wanted to compete, which caused the conflicting reports from Bloody Elbow, but now he's acknowledged that he will have to pull out of the fight.

Must be a major disappointment for both fighters.
