Rising Superstars Who Deserve A Future Title Shot
OK, go ahead and list the most talented fighters in the UFC who have NOT YET received a title shot.
Here are my faves:
155: Efrain Escudero
170: Stun Gun Kim: this kid's an absolute pimp who could get a title shot if his strength and conditioning were up to par
185: Akiyama?!? Maybe that's cheating but at least he's new to the UFC!
205: Jon Bones Jones
205+ No one really; Cain's aight. I didn't like that he caught Kongo without a full training camp though.

I love watching Efrain fight so I wouldn't mind that at all. For HW, I think Nog and JDS should certainly be ahead of Cain.
JDS is getting the short end of the HW stick, bad. He beats Werdum and Crocop, is the brazillian HW KB champ, and he gets scheduled to fight Gonzaga? GG isn't even ranked anywhere any more, he's going to get tooled. And did I mention JDS trains daily with Anderson Silva and Big Nog?
I really think Valesquez is a bit of a fad and he'll be exposed by JDS if that fight ever happens.
BTW good thread, repped. What would you say about Jon Jones facing winner of Rashad vs Thiago for a title shot against winner of Shogun vs Machida?

Dang, completely forgot about Junior! He's badass. I'm a little worried about his reliance on standup. I want to see if he can wrestle, or at least if his TDD is solid. There's this feller named, eh, Brock, or never mind...
As far as Bones, I'd like to see him eased into the title picture gradually. These younger fighters (I'm thinking of Stun Gun and Bones in particular) don't have great gas tanks yet.
The LHW division is extremely deep. Maybe give Bones one or two more fights, then give him a top fiver, like the guys you mentioned. Just my two...

Well it's kind of hard to determine who should deserve a "future" title shot, especially if they are still a "rising" superstar, but your list is pretty good. The only one I really disagree with is Stun Gun; he won't do anything significant in the 170 pound division. I also consider JDS more of a "rising superstar" than Velasquez.

HW: Cain/JDS - both very talented - Cain Valasquez has champion written all over him - early days yet for him.
LHW: Jon Jones is the fastest rising star in any weight class
MW ??
WW: I would go with Dustin Hazlett - he is very promising
LW: Efrain

I don't think Akiyama or Stun gun will do anything significant.

So does this mean that Nog and Dos Santos will refuse to fight each other as well?
