Coleman/Couture at UFC 109
http://www.sbnation.com/2009/11/17/1...e-mark-coleman
"Nov 17, 2009 - Sherdog.com is reporting that UFC Hall of Famers Randy Couture and Mark Coleman are set to fight at UFC 109:
Randy Couture and Mark Coleman have verbally agreed to a light heavyweight headlining bout at UFC 109 on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas, Sherdog.com has learned through sources close to the bout.
If signed, the bout will mark the first time UFC hall of famers have met in the Octagon. Both former heavyweight champions, Couture was originally slated to face Coleman at UFC 17 in May 1998 in Mobile, Ala., before the four-time Olympic alternate hurt his ribs prepping for that year’s Greco-Roman wrestling Nationals.
This will mark Couture's third fight in about five months, which isn't too shabby for a 46 year old. I'll admit that it's rather neat that we'll see a fight that was supposed to take place 11 years ago happen, and the fact that both men are still picking up wins in the UFC is very impressive.
Still, this isn't a fight that really does much to improve either man's standing in the division and it does have the makings of being a snoozer.
The fight joins Anderson Silva v. Vitor Belfort on the card, both fights are only in the "verbal agreement" phase."
Thats an interesting fight, makes me think that the UFC is trying to work Randy back into a title shot with some very winnable fights.

Wait, headlining?
Silva vs Belfort is AWESOME if that goes through but... Couture vs Coleman headlining?

hahahaha remember right after the Vera fight someone on here saying he'd like to see Couture VS Coleman as a joke. But who knows, could be a good fight!

lol, it seems funny, given their age. I have all the respect in the world for both men, but you place two mid-forty somethings in an Octagon, and someone is bound to crack a few jokes. That said, I see Randy making up for his fight against Vera and finishing Coleman, perhaps in brutal fashion. I think Couture's dirty boxing techniques will wear Coleman down quickly, allowing for a TKO victory. What this does for Randy, I'm not entirely certain. But another victory will boost his confidence, so hey... bring it on.

I really don't know who will win. Randy has great clinch work and good wrestling and probably better striking than Coleman, but Coleman is a bull and a power wrestler who can give Couture a lot of trouble.

Snore...sorry, not really interested in this fight. Couture's good and all, but we've had way too much Couture lately, he needs to take a break. Let some other fights happen.

I think Randy takes it. The wrestling should cancel out but Couture has better boxing and cardio.
