Pretty strong words.........

Damn that's pretty harsh. Especially since he's watching the Cain/Rothwell fight while forming his opinion. Even when I saw that fight live I could tell Steve didn't do anything wrong. Rothwell looked like he was on his way out and just as he started to wave it off Rothwell stood up. It was just unlucky timing on Steve's part, it wasn't bad judgement.

Dan Mirgliotta is a much worse ref than Maz will ever be. On top of his terrible stoppages he has, on two occasions, hurt fighters. He pokes Heath Herring in the eye during the faceoff against Lesnar and he basically tackled some lightweight at the end of a round.

I've said before that I actually agree with the Cain/Rothwell stoppage. Despite being oddly timed, Ben was warned that Maz wouldn't let him take those kind of shots. You can't opt to take 5 shots to the face when the rules state "defend yourself at all times"

repped...enough is enough he should have bankrolled to live a comfortable life from now on..in theold days they would find him 100 north of mesquite in..oh 3,000 years for his infractions.....
ps Dan Mirgliotta is connected remember for betting purposes

and what happended to that turncoat McCarthy, he isnt anything let strikeforce liveand die with him.

The worst case of steves reffing i can think of is the first mir lesnar fight where lesnar was pounding murs face in and steve makes them stand up.Mur was about to tap from strikes too.
Yes, if by "about to tap" you mean "about to trow an armbar". Rewatch the fight and you'll see that Mir got screwed by that stand up not saved by it. Atleast it ended well for him still.

Referees are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I wouldn't want their job. Think of all the drama on this forum where we bicker back and forth about a decision, a stoppage, a penalty, or a missed penalty. We rewatch fights and watch replays and can't get a consensus on a lot of things. Referees have to make split second decisions and they aren't going to get them right all the time. Seriously if people want to bitch about Mazzagati they should first shoot every meteorologist that has ever provided a forecast. Mazzagatti has bad calls and good calls just like every referee of every sport.

Yeah no ill-will here toward refs. They're just doing their job and have to make decisions on the fly. If I were Steve I might'be been moving for the stoppage at the same time, it was just really unfortunate timing as Ben was just starting to stand up. With that said, I have been outraged on many occasions by poor reffing, not so much at the ref but at the situation. But this just really isn't one of those times, partially because Ben hadn't shown anything resembling an offense in that fight let alone a defense.

Considering Dana was watching the fight at the time this was recorded I think he might have just been really hot at the moment, but I think we all know Dana isn't a Steve fan in the first place.

Mazz has made some poor moves in the Octagon, but he doesn't deserve that kinda critisizm from Dana.

On another note:

Josh Roesenthal has been doing a very good job in the UFC. He's pretty much a main-stay now, and how many times can you remember him screwing anything up? :thumb02:

Well I think Mazagatti blew the Cain vs. Rothwell decision. But those are pretty strong words inspite that...

My personal most hated ref has to be the fatty who was about to stand everybody up if they didn't do something for few seconds. The one where Joe Rogan commented that "he is going to stand them up when a guy just got a full mount??!!".

Can't remeber his name tho...

I don't know his name, but he was reffing in the UK last weekend, and he kept saying "you have to work, guys" or some such, while guys were ACTIVELY grappling wither standing or on the ground. It's like no one ever told him that grappling was part of MMA. Rogan comented on that one too. Might have been the same ref that almost stood the guys up right when someone got mount.

Steve has made some bad calls, but the Rothwell fight I think he made the right decision. Ben didn't do ANYTHING offensively OR defensively. He was getting his face battered the whole fight. Sure he was wobbling to his feet but he would have just got KTFO if he made it up all the way. IMO Steve saved him more damage.....

but overall, yea he's one of the worst lol
