I'm not saying he is at all. My point is that when you're best at one sport, but you lose in another sport, that only affects your status in that other sport, not the sport you're best at.

No, it ruins his boxing status. But if he does lose, there will be Fedor nut-huggers that will use it in their arguements on why Fedor is the P4P best fighter and not Anderson. No matter how little sense it makes.

What boxing status, the dude is 1-1 as a pro? Anderson Silva is an one of the top two mixed martial artists on the planet and a damn good kickboxer, but he doesnt deserve to be in a boxing ring with RJJ and he will find out exactly why if this fight ever happens. As for this fight hurting his status, I dont think it will. The only people that would actually give him a chance in this fight are people that dont know anything about boxing. No trying to sound like a know it all or a dick, this is just the way I see it.

Wasn't saying Anderson is an incredible boxer, I was just saying if he were to lose, he would be losing credibility in BOXING. Not MMA. Veteran or not, he still has boxing status.

Didnt mean to sound insulting, just pointing out that it would be hard for him to fall further down on the boxing ladder.

Andersons only real boxing cred is due to his MMA ability to be honest. If it werent for MMA he was never really a boxing standout and nobody would let him fight RJJ or anybody of that calibre, washed up or not.

I won't be surprised if this ends up being an MMA fight just like Mercers fight with Sylvia. Sylvia still got owned

you can't seriously be comparing sylvia and silva. cmon. and did you see sylvia in that fight? that was the worst sylvia i've ever seen, he looked like butterbean with a mohawk and stilts, except butterbean was faster with a better chin.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

You realise that Mercer has been retired for years and is almost 50 years don't you?

Sylvia got owned in a fight that Mercer had 0 prep for because of the last minute change from boxing to MMA.

Boxing is a completely different animal to MMA. It's much more dangerous and boxers take alot more damage. I have my doubts that Silva will man up and take the fight in straight boxing.

And? That has nothing to do with Silva vs RJJ. I could list a few of the reasons that Sylvia was lamer than he was in his prime too. In fact I will, in the next paragraph.

Come on. Did you actually watch that fight? Sylvia was fatter and slower than EVER and his chin was weaker than ever. Not to mention he was never #1 HW much less a P4P contender. Even in his prime in MMA he was just a guy with a mediocre sprawl and medicore sub defense and freakish length, despite his decent # of KO's he was never a real power puncher or a highly skilled KO artist. For this reason he was absolutely the WORST matchup for a strong boxer's first MMA match. It's not like he presented any threat that Mercer hadn't been training for his whole life.
