Marcus Davis

I'm wondering what everyone thinks. I'm a big fan of Marcus Davis, and while he has done well in the WW division for the most part, I wonder if his case is a little bit like Swicks was in the MW.

He and Saunders looked like a LHW fighting a WW, it was insane, and Swick was quite a bit bigger than him as well.

I personally would like to see him cut to 155. He boxed a couple of matches as low as 145. Granted, that was 14 years ago. But I think it may be possible for him to shed 15 pounds, because from I understand he cuts very little.

Anyway, just thinking about his future more so than last nights performance.

I don't think he could make the cut to 55.

He looked small next to Saunders because Killa B is just a giant for that division. He must be 6' 3 or 4, I dunno for sure. Davis is an pretty average sized WW.

Marcus Davis is fun to watch. There can only be so many top contenders in a division and I don't think Davis makes the cut as a top WW but it doesn't mean he can't be a great fight for a bunch of cards to come.

Cutting to 155? I don't see it making a difference even if he can do it. At 155 he would just end up being a cut below the top talent there IMO and lose some punching power, his bread and butter.

I would rather see him as a good gatekeeper at WW rather than at LW.

I would like to see him fight Paulo Thiago next

A groan of tedium escapes me...

He is always fun to watch because everyone loves a slugfest I think! I don't think it would be very easy for him to cut to LW at all and I like him at WW. Saunders is just friggin huge at 6'4" or something like that. I mean dude had like 6" reach advantage..wow!

He really has the frame of a LW.

If he trims a bit of muscle he could make 155 imo.

But I also agree with this...

I've heard that his casual weight is only around 180 to 185... a cut to 155 is not far fetched at all. Being closer to 40 than 30, I would just like to see him take one more shot a title contention... which I think is more likely at LW. Of course, moving away from GSP and moving into Penn's world, is pretty much like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire... so, yeah, maybe he should stay where he is comfortable and keep putting on entertaining bouts.

I was pretty dissapointed last night when he got KO'd. I'm a Marcus fan and those knees he ate were nasty. He should change his style a bit and maybe start mixing it up more with takedowns/dirty boxing. It'd be a good move for him.

That really was a nasty KO. I can't get over Killa Bs MT. Dude is destructive.

If Marcus loses another one it will be hard to make a case for him as any kind of title contender.

This, Davis isn't that small (same height as GSP I do believe) Ben just a monster

Marcus is a very durable guy too. Ben put some serious shots on him and a lot of fighters would have crumbled earlier.

Davis always brings it so I hope that keeps him secure in the UFC for as long as he wants.
