I'm a big fan of both guys but making excuses for one and not the other is silly. They were both injured and Forrest won. We don't know exactly how the injuries changed either guys game plan or if they would have even fought much better. I would love to see a rematch with both guys 100% but until then you can't take away Forrest's win, IMO...

I never took away Forrest's win, he did win in all the confines of the rules, all I said was I think Shogun would beat him in a rematch and other people said how can people say that when Forrest won the first fight etc, and I went on to give my reasons why I think Shogun would win in a rematch, and I also explained how I didn't understand how Shogun could even walk with his particular injury, I've never considered myself a big Shogun fan and I've been waiting for a rematch for 2 years now but were not going to get one since the Shogun-Machida rematch isnt gonna be until May allegedly

Im sure both Shogun and Big Nog are looking forward to rematches and i think in time we will see both happen. Great fighters always want to avenge losses and no doubt both of these guys are great. It belittles their greatness and is a dis-service to everything they stand for when their fans make excuses for them. They are men, they make their own decisions, once that cage door closes all excuses are out the door and when you lose you shake hands and move on. If you feel you can perform at a higher level if not for w/e prob you keep it to yourself and do w/e you need to do to prove it. jmo

I agree but both guys are high profile competitors and fighters specifically have alot of pride. In the Nog case, it's hard to pull out because there was an entire TuF season that involved hyping that fight and it's a fight the fans wanted to see. In my opinion a guy who cant compete at his best is more disappointing than pulling out but I'm not sure that's how fighters see it.

Comparing the fighters now, Shogun would wreck him. Forrest doesn't look the same, or he kinda does look the same and Shogun just didn't show up for the first fight.

Sure he beat Shogun, no need for the end of story garbage. The title of the thread is Shogun vs Griffin 2, not let's dwell on the past.

Shogun would **** him up in a rematch.
