Could you see copromotion in the UFC's futrure?

The major problem that I see with the UFC copromoting with any other mma organizations right now is that it would be a completely one way street. In most casual fans minds, the UFC is the end all of mma, they might as well mean the same thing. If the UFC were to copromote an event with Strikeforce right now, Strikeforce would be the real winner because of them being able to ride on the back of the UFC's brand name and deep talent roster to get themselves into the spotlight. I think that is one of the big reasons that the UFC is so against copromotion right now, no other organization even brings a quarter of what they do to the table. If in the future Strikeforce becomes as successful on or near the level of the UFC, do you think the UFC would be more open to compromotion? I would like to think that they would be a bit more open to it seeing as they might have something to gain from it if they were getting in bed with an equal partner. Thoughts?

I doubt it'll ever happen. From a business standpoint co-promoting offers 0 benefits to the UFC. Why would you want to help another MMA organization grow if they'll just be cutting into your profit and gaining exposure.

Maybe if Strikeforce magically became larger than the UFC it would happen but that's not likely.

My understanding is that M1 is very popular in the east. These are regions that the UFC doesn't cover at all. I'm thinking co-promoting with an organization like M1 ONLY in these regions could be beneficial to the UFC.

Co-promoting with a US organization like Strikeforce would be silly for the UFC.

How does it offer the UFC zero benefits?

If Strikeforce becomes large enough to become a legit contender as an organization against the UFC, they will obviously have fighters people enjoy. Setting up fights between the two could garner HUGE numbers, and money for both operations.

Also, why do you feel we need multiple promotions? I think that if both combined with each other, the UFC could become like the NHL, NFL, MLB etc. where it truly is the best players in the world, and it's where everyone wants to go. I definately see this in MMA's future. There can't be garbage between the owners bickering over who's fighters could kick the other fighters ass. If it stays this way, it will just become like boxing, with the champion only fighting who he wants. Fighters need rights, but there needs to be boundaries, with what kind of money they get. I think the UFC currently pays the lower tier fighters too little for getting in a cage and putting their life at risk, when Zuffa and the UFC are raking in the cash.

If both companies were to come together, there would be more money to pool for fighters, and more money from all the publicity the companies will get for the big wigs up top. Everyone wins.

Co-promotion if you want to call it really might be the best thing to legitimize MMA as a sport once and for all.

Dana White said on MMA Junkie only 2 days ago that it will NEVER happen.

Dana White says alot of bullshit.

What's his reasoning? Dana White built the UFC up from failure and I understand it's his brainchild but, to make the BIG money it has to expand, and it has to become THE top promotion with ALL the top fighters wanting to fight for them. They are almost there, but Strikeforce is making waves. I'm not trying to say the UFC must combine right now, but in the future if Strikeforce keeps expanding it might become the best option.

I think there could be some benefits, as mentioned above co-promoting with M1. That said, I think Dana is much too stubborn and narcissistic for that though.
