Peeve about UFC PPV

I alway rent every UFC ppv, i feel it's my duty to support the fighters that entertain me at risk to themselves. One thing i hate here in Canada is i shell out $60 to watch the PPV in HD and then it's continiously on replay everyday for the rest of the week, but if i want to watch it again, i would have to pay another $30.... if you pay $60 you should be able to watch all the replays while available imo, its not a small amount. I know i could just DVR it but i feel paying $60 i should be able to watch it more then once without having to shell out more to buy a DVR

And I agree totally on this actually. That is a lot of damn money and it would be nice to watch it later even if you didn't record it...

I agree too. If you paid for it once you should be able to watch it again as many times as you want without having to pay for it again.

I contacted both Rogers Cable (my cable provider) and the UFC, im pretty sure it will fall on deaf ears. Im not sure who to talk to, i think it would be my cable service but even my friends on Bell Canada have the same problem.... perhaps with nudging from the fans the UFC could help by talking with cable providers or should we focus our attention on the cable providers solely??

I encourage anybody else who feels this is unfair to contact BOTH aswell if they are so inclined and can find the free time. It's getting expensive to be an MMA fan these days and i find this somewhat insulting considering $60 in this economy isnt pennies to most ppl. I could take my wife to the movies multiple nights with this $. We could rent movies for a month. They should put the events in a "movies on demand" type format after you purchase them, i mean is Rogers or the UFC actually making $ from ppl that buy a 2nd time?? I would venture to say slim to none are the chances of 2nd time buyers for the same event.

We as the consumer truely have the power. But we must unite to generate it.

you can usually find the fights on the internet after the PPV event, so if you really want to watch the fights there is that.

like Joe Rogan says whenever Goldberg says that stupid like about illegaly watching the event... you cant beat the internet.

obv, but im talking about shelling out $60 for HD on my 50 inch TV, not getting some crappy internet feed. I could be a wankster and watch every event on the net, it wont look as good but i could get it on my TV too... i make a point to support my favorite organization religiously and support the fighters because i think they deserve to live a good life and make a very decent wage for the entertainment and risk they provide. The UFC and the cable companies are punishing the ppl actually footing all the bills. EVERYBODY can see it free at ANYTIME, but i pay $60 and can only see it once when it's live??

You're absolutely right of course but don't hold your breath waiting for Rogers to act on it. All the cable companies rank at the top of the list for worst customer service.

The DVR's are expensive but they are a must have, especially for someone with a big screen HD TV. After having one for a couple of years I can't even remember how I watched TV without it. Just record anything good, watch it later and FU commercials.

What if you pay 500$ for tickets to go see it live, should you be able to watch the replay for free too?

jasvll 11-24-2009 03:26 PM

I wonder if Zuffa's written to the cable companies to complain that once they pay for the initial PPV time, the later blocks should be free?

Props to you for supporting the company that you find entertaining; however, unless your cable company promised you unlimited access to free replays in Hi-Def, I don't think you have anything to complain about.

You do have options, such as a DVR, or a DVD Recorder.

It'd be nice if they gave you access to rewatch the fights after you leave the stadium, yes. Maybe the tickets have a password you can use on www.ufc.com to rewatch the event.

After all it's hard to REALLY watch the fights live.
